Does anyone have any insight on the Porsche branded insurance option? I'm comparing for my GT4 with my existing Geico option, Porsche and Hagerty. Geico and Porsche are the same price if I drive about 5000 miles a year but Porsche allows for a 150k guaranteed value. I'm trying to figure out why Hagerty is 1800 more a year and has restrictions. I like that you pay based on mileage for Porsche and that it guarantees Porsche branded parts.

Don't plan on autocrossing with Geico. If they find out (and they actively look) they will drop you.

For a gt4 and most 911s, I’d just go with your regular auto insurance. The agreed value stuff comes with a lot more restrictions, usually less price competitive, and not really that much benefit for cars in this price tier. You can get gap insurance if you have financing issues to cover.

This gives you a lot of choices.

There is dedicated track insurance per diem like OpenTrack and others I’d recommend if you need that. Definitely do not cross the streams with your street insurance company.

Do an advanced search; Porsche Insurance has been discussed couple of times.

You pay a base rate and per mile.

If you don’t ever drive your car, it’s probably ok. Drive a lot, not so much.

If you’re bundled, like most are, with their current insurer consider that as well.

I'm not sure what you mean by not a benefit for this price tier. To replace my GT4 would be a significant increase over what I paid based on market prices. The Porsche insurance is the same price as my standard policy with the added benefit of an agreed upon value and Porsche certified parts. Seems like a no brainer to switch to that but the real comparison I am trying to make is between Porsche and Hagerty/Grundy/American Collectors.

Porsche Auto Insurance is a great product. I've used them for a couple of cars now and couldn't be happier with their pricing and service.

I highly recommend getting a policy that has Agreed Value coverage. If you pick the right insurance company, it does not come with any unique or special restrictions.

I have CHUBB insurance and bundle my Auto, Home & Umbrella Liability Policies. CHUBB provides Agreed Value Auto Insurance at competitive rates with no Mileage Limits.

Everyone has different information that goes into determining their auto insurance rates, yet for reference on my 2022 Boxster 25 Year;

$72.92 Per Month, Agreed Vale = $136,998, $500K Liability Limit, $1000 Deductible. No Mileage Fees or Limits

Your Mileage May Vary.....

Another great option to Chubb is Erie. Great coverage, price, and claims service. When I wanted to switch from Replacement Cost to $110k Agreed Value coverage for my 981 GT4, there was no additional premium charged and no restrictions applied. Although I have never had to test it, I see nowhere in their Terms & Conditions any restrictions for autocrossing or track events.

Not sure what "restrictions" you got with Hagerty. I have them for my Spyder. I have a stated value policy for $130k (I set the value before all this ADM stuff went bonkers), no mileage restrictions, they didn't even want to restrict my 17 y/o from the policy. I pay ~$2k/yr for it. State Farm was around $1200/yr so they are pricier for sure but SF has been going downhill lately and I did not want to deal with negotiations should something happen to my baby.

I priced my GTS 4.0 with Porsche Insurance and it was going to be over $5,000 a year driving 8,000 miles a year. The mileage charge will kill you if you daily drive a car insured by Porsche. They basically said it's for garage queens.

I'm less than happy with State Farm but I stayed with them. I've had no tickets or reported accidents on my driving record in years. I did have a couple of uninsured motorist claims in the past few years. Something is messing up my insurance rates but I haven't figured out what it is.

Probably the uninsured motorist claims are your rate problem, but make sure that the credit report they pulled on you really is you and not someone else with the same/similar name. Years ago my Allstate renewal skyrocketed with no claims history. Local agent dove into the problem and discovered home office had pulled a credit report on one of my distant and deadbeat cousins instead of me which led to the big rate increase. Local agent fixed it and apologized. Allstate home office couldn’t have cared less.

Beware if you track a car. After 15+ years with Chubb, they found out I track one of my cars and refused to insure it at all. I moved all my business, cars, homes, umbrella, to Nationwide Private Client.

Do HPDE count as tracking?

Yes. You can get track insurance per diem from a variety of specialty providers.
