What would you get instead? The hp and torque specs on the GTS 4.0 are in-line with or substantially better than the 930, 993 Turbo, 996 GT3 and 997 GT3. It’s not far off a 959. True, it can’t rival the current or prior generation GT4, 911 Turbo, GT2, GT3, 918 or Carrera GT but that’s a fairly complete list of every Porsche faster than a GTS 4.0.

If you want a car with more low end torque, have you considered a Taycan?

I was thinking of a 992 if they ever release the base in a manual transmission. Or maybe a 991.2.

I'm in the processing of selling a Model 3 Performance. It's actually a fantastic car, but it made me realize that's all we'll be driving in 10 years so I want to buy some more RWD manual transmission cars while they still exist.

Agree with this. I have a 21 BGTS 4.0 with -10mm PASM and DSC controller. This is the most comfortable suspension I've ever driven on a sports car - but it still handles amazingly well. I drive the broken pavements of LA every day so I pay a lot of attention to this. This is my 5th Porsche. My BGTS suspension in current form is more compliant than:

458 with mag ride w bumpy road button (haven't driven 448/F8)
California T w the same (haven't driven Portofino/Roma)
992 Carrera base w 19/20 wheels standard PASM
991.2 S w SPASM and PDCC w DSC controller
718 base w 19" wheels w passive springs
All M3/M4 ever made, All M2 ever made
2018 R8 w passive sprints

But the ultimate comfort vehicle is my G05 X5 w air springs and non-run-flat tired. It just glides. Better ride comfort than the last gen S class, 7 series, etc.

I have a 2019 Boxster GTS with the 2.5 Turbo engine. It’s got tons of torque down low! Same suspension, etc. as the 4.0 GTS.

I traded a 987.2 Spyder for a GT4, so not exactly what you’re asking, but close.

For all the hype, the Spyder never did it for me. It feels incredibly dated to drive and not in a good way. The manual gearbox is terrible, it rattles like crazy, and for all the talk of it being perfectly analog, it just left a lot to be desired. We have poor roads too which was certainly part of it because over broken pavement it sounded like it was going to fall apart.

The GT4 is much more compliant and better put together so I imagine the GTS will be even easier to live with. I think you’ll love it.
