Although the GT4 RS ratios are probably pretty close to perfect for this engine, considering the 9,000 rpm redline. I though there was going to a larger difference to top speed in each gear. The 2nd gear redline for the standard GT4/Spyder w/PDK is only 4.6 MPH higher than in the GT4 RS. Also, from what heard from PDK owners and seen in videos, leaving the PDK in "auto" will make the car shift just before redline, so the real world shift points are a few MHP/KMH lower than on this chart.

Can someone please tell me how the gear ratios of the GT4RS/Spyder RS compare with a PDK 991.2 GT3?

I have a PDK 991.2 GT3 and plan to add a Spyder RS, and since both cars share the GT3 engine, I’m trying to understand how the Spyder RS gear ratios compare to my 991.2 GT3?

Ran the numbers of the GT4 PDK with stock final drive, and compared them to using the manual's final drive ratio. Pretty interesting if it's possible to swap them.

I think it would be pretty unlikely that the PDK gears (box made by ZF) would be interchangeable with the GT4 manual (originally, an Audi gearbox).

Not sure if the manual box was made by an outside supplier for Audi, but if so, it would be likely that it’s made by Getrag.

Thought there'd be enough interest in posting a dedicated thread for discussion. Once it winds down I'll combine it into the main thread for archival purposes.

As published the GT4RS reaches max speed in 7th gear:

3.75 2.38 1.72 1.34 1.11 0.96 0.84
Reverse gear 3.42
Rear-axle gear ratio 4.17

Here is the GT4 PDK for comparison:

3.91 2.29 1.65 1.30 1.08 0.88 0.71
Reverse gear 3.55
Rear-axle gear ratio 3.62

Here is the GT4 Manual Gearset:

3.31 1.95 1.41 1.13 0.95 0.81
Reverse gear 3.0
Rear-axle gear ratio 3.89

Attached is the full tech spec bulletin

Looking forward to these ratios in my Spyder RS!

I searched the Internet but cannot find --

Is there an equivalent pdf document for 718 Spyder RS that shows gear ratios?

The reason I ask is we have all seen in place after place the claim made in written reviews and video reviews that the gear ratios in Spyder RS are different (shorter) than in GT4 RS. I am not buying that hearsay. I don't see how Porsche would labor to develop the drivetrain for GT4 RS and then specify a different drivetrain for Spyder RS. Does anyone have a definitive answer on this?

I do not take <automobile catalogue> dot com as gospel, but according to that site, the gear ratios across GT4 RS and Spyder RS are the same.

They’re the same.

Technical docs posted on the .de Porsche Newsroom.

Suspect someone’s discussing compared to Spyder PDK
