Thoughts on Soul Over Axle Pipes Only?
#91
I can't imagine there is too much of a sound difference, if any, from one OAP pipe to the next, if they are the same size. With no other exhaust changes.
I went with Flat-6 pipes because they have the insulation and look like very high quality pieces. I would have gone with akrapovic titanium like my friends got but they were not being sold in the US for a few months.
I really like that the parts look stock, too. At least to the average person who wouldn't know there should be GPF there. There are new enforcement laws associated with NY's exhaust laws, and with that comes much misinformation. My setup is legal, but the more it looks stock the less potential issues I will have.

Did you by chance take any pictures of the "Flat-6 pipes" ???
Or a link ???

From my research and speaking with John at Soul I am not surprised by Matt's take. I think the OAP is a good inexpensive route to go. If I were wanting something more and perfect, then I would be doing Kline but then cost wise isn't worth it to me.
I still am wondering though about the horrible quietness before the valves open around 4k RPM. IMHO it really takes away from the driving experience because there is this dead space. Even with OAPs, does that create enough sound that the dead space is somewhat filled with some noise? I know wiring the valves open would for sure solve my dead space quiet issues,
however, my two issues with that are 1) possible increased drone and 2) the exhaust becomes too in your face for my wife as I would not have the ability to ever turn it off anymore completely.

I gotcha on your 1 & 2 concerns as I am also married.
Plus I don't want ridiculous drone done been there and done that and have multiple Tee-Shirts.
Seems the best compromise is the OAP of the manufacture one chooses.
And leave well enough alone.
My thing is when I want the true Porsche Sports-Car sound at WOT just push the exhaust Btn.
If I'm not messing around I don't won't the additional sound !!!

OAP pipes and Cartronick valve controller to me is the best bang for the buck. It's nice to be able to put the valve in stock mode at the flick of a switch.

100% agree. Most of my customers are starting with @Soul Performance OAP's and our Valve Controller Kit ($245). The ability to control the sound (Open) or default to PSE changes the entire experience of the car. The OAP's change the character and make a noticeable difference, especially over 5500 RPMS as the car makes more power and the revs climb faster. Such a no-brainer first mod!

Thanks guys and everyone else that's provided insight into the SOUL OAP exhaust option.
I'm all set thanks to all of you.

They're just thermal coating. Soul makes the pipes then sends them out to the jet hot coating service or you can send them yourself after you buy them.

I did this.. really brings the car to life.. everyone comments on the sound..ive been debating the SOUL valved exhaust,... but am thinking is may be overkill and as $4500 I would hate to be regretting that purchase. been trying to get POVs one folks that started with OAPs and then added and exhaust to see if its really worth it in thier opinion..
