Default Boxster 4.0 - Build Advice

I’m pretty close. Any wisdom from the group on anything else worth considering or I’m going to notice missing?

The pics don’t show it - but added the deviated seat center (in black)

Looks like a nice build.

Consider optioning the sun visors in leather, they are very visible with the top down and the standard plastic looks cheap. Not a big deal on Caymans, but a nice option on Boxsters. Less important is wrapping steering column in leather, some swear by it if you're going leather. I can take or leave the white dials, it's personal preference, less necessary in your build IMO because you've already lightened and constrasted the interior. Be aware that the white dials show all the dummy lights outlined at all times, not a deal breaker but a bit of a gotcha, if you don't know that, on delivery day, because the configurator hides that.

This is the actual look (from a 981)...

I'm spec'ing my Cayman out and I second the dials, my build has the standard black dials but the sport chrono dial white for a nice contrast.

They’re called options, get what you want. Many of the options are simply aesthetic differences, which are subjective.

I would not get, or not get, and option based on RL opinion.

I’d get the colored gauges.

I’d get the steering casing in leather, you stare at it all the time.

I wouldn’t get optional leather visors, they’re covered with warning labels also. However, I did get deviated bespoke visors aftermarket though.

You are better off getting the pleather visors and then having Classic 9 Leather (https://www.classic9leathershop.com/) redo them in leather, and with deviated stitching if you desire, for under $500 - that is what I did.

Congrats on the allocation and build. That red leather interior is super nice.

FYI - I opted for the leather visors, then spent hours removing the warning labels. If I had it to do again, I’d get the vinyl visors and have them covered as suggested above.

I don’t know your budget, but the stupid thing that is a must have for me is lighted door sills. It’s a lot of money to spend but I do enjoy seeing them when opening the door.

Dan,

I started this thread about visor options.

Were you successful in removing all traces of the decal from the leather?

Anyway, if you have some words of wisdom or techniques, post em up.

I was successful thanks to advice here, drcollie, and a leather expert. I will post it there, but haven’t been able to take good after photos - waiting for a day when I can get the top down.
