Default GTS 4.0 Wheel Weights

The referent info exists somewhere but neither Forum search or Google has turned it up for me. Would like to know the weights, and sizes if different, of the three wheel options for the 4.0 GTS. Base wheel is the 718 Sport Wheel, first option is Carrera Sport, and next is 911 Turbo (forged).

TIA,
Bob L

I do not have the data for the other wheels but I do have it for the base wheels on the GTS 4.0:

Rim Size 8.5x20ET57 10.5x20ET47
Rim Weight 23.2 lbs 25.6 lbs
Tire Size 235/35R20 265/35R20
Tire Weight (PS4S) 23.0 lbs 27.0 lbs
Total Weight 46.2 lbs 52.6 lbs

Photo evidence....

Front: 46.8

Rear: 52.8 lbs

My scale may be off some and the weight of the wheel alone probably does not include the TPMS sensor and then there is the pressurized air....

For 20s, my opinion is that isn’t horrible. Obviously not the lightest but you are going to need to spend quite a bit of $$$ to get significantly lighter than that.

Great question! Un-sprung weight is hardly talked about but heard can have a significant impact on speed & handling. I think for every pound saved from your wheels is like adding 5hp to your car? Think it was something like that but not sure.

maybe it's what unsprung equates to in sprung weight, rather than power? Either way we know what you're getting at.

I read somewhere that unsprung weight saving is one of the advantages of PCCB's

Thanks @Greg_STL for that info. Hopefully someone can fill in the info on the two options in the next three days (my config. locks on Feb 8).

I didn't see it mentioned, but is this with Michelin or Pirelli tires?

Maybe you could ask your SA - he might have the technical specs, or call the parts department? They must have them for shipping parts out.

I just did a web search and these numbers are impossible to find. It’s odd that Porsche wouldn’t have these specifications easily available for their performance sports cars. You are wise to research this.

I believe it's Michelin, in the second pix. You can see "ELIN"

Michelin Pilot Sport 4S (PS4S) and the tire weights are from Tire Rack.

Reviving an old thread. Would aftermarket wheels less 5lbs per corner be considered a significant weight saving?

I believe the ratio is 4 to 1 for wheel/unsprung weight savings. So I think it would be comparable to shaving 80 pounds from the car when you factor in 5 lbs per corner.
I'm hoping to go with 19s for this reason, maybe come out even or a bit under when you factor in 255/285s.

Definitely! You would be able to feel the reduced inertia especially when starting from a stop.
