Default Hypothetical 718 Cayman "R" Build

With all the positives of the 4L 718 platform, I was thinking about what a hypothetical "R" version of the Cayman could be built to. Inspiration coming from how the 911R was thought of and similar use case for the road keeping the car as light as possible, <3,100lbs (<3,000 if possible)

Would it be better to start with a GTS 4.0 or a GT4, either in Manual with Buckets to start and knowing the following mods would be done:

4.5L DeMan Upgrade
Regearing Trans
Lightweight Flywheel/Clutch
AP Racing Brakes (Or PCCB's)
Lighter wheels
Li-Ion Battery
Suspension (if necessary)

Since Porsche hasn't done the "R" treatment to the 718 4L, thought this could be a fun exercise and hear what you guys think.

A 718R should just be a GT4RS w/ 6MT. It would lose the wing, though.

I think the only accurate speculation with a cayman R is the price tag. Add another 100g+ to the price

Yep pretty much this. GT4RS underneath. No wing. Smaller front splitter. (Or maybe? a GTS or plain-jane 718 body?) Manual trans. Pepita seat inserts.

I think once you go the route of the DeMan engine, etc. you're talking more Cayman "Outlaw" than Cayman R.

I went and read the 911R specs. I think a GT4RS with a manual and no wing is much closer than what you are suggesting.

Not sure why you think a 4.5 liter will ever come out of Zuffenhausen in a two door car with the possible exception of the 928. And I have no idea where that was produced.

I think the question is confusing, are you hypothetically emulating the 911R or the 987 Cayman R?

I think he’s referring to 911R. The current GTS 4.0 is a more luxurious version of the 987 Cayman R in some ways. They didn’t have a Cayman GTS back in the day

Thanks for all of the replies. As @sin911 hit it, I'm referring to the 911R. Not that I'm saying Porsche will come out with a 4.5L from the factory, I meant to say to get to 500hp (as the 911R did) the easiest way is to do the DeMan 4.5L kit, the displacement just happens to be what it is. I'm sure Rick could do the 4.25L kit on it to lower the HP. The question was, if you were to take the spirit of the 911R and try to emulate it based off the 718 Cayman platform, would you start with a CGTS 4.0 or a GT4 because the Manual Transmission is the key missing piece that we can't get from the RS, not yet anyway.

I remember long ago Porsche made a big stink how the GT4 was a driver cars and would only be manual. Now we have PDK, well that's fine but we lost support for manual in the flagship model.

My call to Porsche is for the run out model to be GT4RS underpinnings in manual with the GT3 engine and same aero or aero same as GT3RS as the minimum.
I gave up my GT4RS slot in hope of a manual later.

You have plenty of spyder folks hoping the rumored spyder rs will offer manual (or whatever they call it, if there IS an it).
