I may be biased but the Spyder is the best looking P-car, top down or up, now and in the past 60+ years. My top is down most of the time and after a few times, it becomes second nature to operate it.

My buddy got his Spyder, and me my BGTS 4.0 in Atlanta in Feb. 2021. Both cars are phenomenal. That said, while the guys at Porsche Experience Center were explaining and demonstrating the finicky top of the Spyder to my buddy, I was putting my top up and down repeatedly. He had a bit of a time mastering it. I commented that the top on the Boxster is German Engineering and the top on the Spyder is Italian Engineering.
That said, the trunk in my car is 100% easily usable on a daily basis, but not for chocolates in the summertime. The trunk on the Spyder is kind of tricky to get into with having to release the top to get into the trunk.
Spider = Better looking with the top down! Hands down, no debate. Not so much with the top up. Best handling in the Automotive World.
Boxster GTS 4.0 = Better looking with the top up (80+% of my use). Much more usable trunk. More options, better daily driver.
Since I have a 2016 GT4, my choice was obvious. My GTS is a daily, my buddy's Spyder is a weekend toy. That kind of covers it.

1. Spyder is no longer a Boxter by definition & based on personal ownership experience the Spyder is just not the same car in feel & handling & pretty much the entire overall experience despite similar shell & furnitures.

2. Each their own depending on driving style & circumstances so each is "best" in their own ways. But a nice enjoyable video to wrap up the range.

I agree. There is not another stock Porsche on the planet that really even comes close in my eyes. It's got a little more Ferrari in it than any other P car as well. Maybe that's why I feel that way.

And I got the top lowering down to about 50 or so seconds. Never pass on a Spyder solely because of the process of operating the top.

I also love the look of my Spyder. Of course it’s my opinion, but I agree that it’s it’s the best looking P-car of all time.
I really don’t care how long it takes me to raise or lower the top.
I don’t feel like it’s a speed contest. I got caught in the rain once, but still didn’t mind, but it’s not my daily driver either, so YMMV.
When I do it, I feel a connection to the car and it’s actually an enjoyable experience for me to raise or lower it.

Last week we got a spot out front of a little beach bar with an outdoor patio. An older (than me) couple watched as we closed the top and as we walked up the steps the woman said "nice" and her partner asked "Spyder, right? The manual top is perfect for it."

Reminds me of the mantra, “it’s not a Ferrari, it’s a Dino.” I can see the t-shirt now, “it’s not a Boxster, it’s a Spyder”.
