Talk me out of factory ordering a poverty spec GTS

Just got back from the local Porsche Cars & Coffee and I was struck by how much I actually appreciate the purity of the base spec Porsche sports car. People tell me how bad the rubber dash looks on the base 718, can I admit that I actually like it? I have it on my 981 and I think I prefer it to leather on this car. Am I crazy?
As my 718 GTS 4.0 build is about to lock for April delivery, I'm tempted to ditch my $15k in options, $106k build and go poverty spec on it. It already comes with every Porsche performance option and a huge engine and Sport seats +, so not exactly poverty spec, but I'm talking about only checking Bose and nothing else. No full leather, no GTS interior package, no paint upgrades. This is a weekend canyon carver toy for me, not a daily. I have a fast and luxurious daily (S6) that fills that need.
Talk me out of it please.

I have the rubber / vinyl dash on my Carrera T and it’s fine for me. I eventually deleted the “wart” / sport chrono clock for a more “basic” look. The sport chrono comes standard on the Spyder, otherwise I would have done without it. My Spyder isn’t exactly a poverty spec even though Car Play was somehow deleted from my build and I am Ok with the base sound system. I also went with the base climate control and no buttons on the steering wheel and base headlights.

I bought a stripped 718 Spyder 2 months ago and haven’t missed the auto climate, dimming mirrors, wheels in a different color for $1300, etc. All I really needed was that 4.0 engine hooked up to a 6-speed manual. Just my opinion, your mileage may vary. 😁

Poverty spec. May have to steal that.
Of the features on my lightly optioned Spyder, I could live without:
1. Supplemental safety bars in exterior color
2. PDLS+ package as I typically drive this car during the day
3. Light design package
4. Headlight cleaning system
The options I wouldn't skip are:
1. Apple carplay
2. Heated seats
3. 18 way seats
4. Bose of which I'm not a fan, but at least it has a subwoofer.

Fun title, but really it's a 'Talk You Into It' confirmation.
When I got my GT4 allocation, it had the capability to add PTS...so my poverty went out the window. But I had happily 'relaxed into' spending no-more-than the cost of delivery ($1350) in options. And for those options, I was going to do heated seats, Apple CarPlay, and power folding mirrors.
...and remember with the GTS, you get Apple Car Play and way better headlights than the base GT4--as STANDARD.
Yeah, absolutely do it.

Sport seats plus are my one must have.
Nothing wrong with ditching those options at all. You already have an amazing car without the extra options.

You'll get more back on resale the less options you pick. Pretty much every dealership around me orders every single one of their for stock vehicles with the plastic dash regardless if it's a base cayman or a cayenne or a 911 S and people still buy that stuff.
I personally think the plastic interior is cheap and crappy looking but if you like it you just saved thousands. If you're not hurting for a couple G just get the black leather option. It's not so much for the dash as it is for making the door panels not look like they came out of a base model jetta.
If you're doing a boxster GTS heated seats and a heated steering wheel are pretty good options if you drive on cool nights top down.

My 16 GT4 was fully loaded. Sold it 3 years later with 22k mikes and lost $25k. The current market is a bit strange. However, I don’t think going a stripper is a bad idea. A low optioned car may well have a broader resale market in the future. A lot of buyers won’t care about how much your options cost. Having said that I tacked $30k onto my GT4 currently sitting in Baltimore.
Get the seats you want and your transmission of choice. Everything else is fluff.

isn’ this the same as your other thread where you had a loaded car versus a non loaded car?

Poverty spec? Purist spec?
Nothing wrong with a low or zero option sports car. As others have mentioned a low option car will hold better resale value better VS a more expensive highly optioned one.
The standard interior is what I wanted on my GT4 because I felt like it would hold up better over time and be easier to maintain. Every 25+ year old leather-covered dash I've ever seen looks like *** as the leather dries out and shrinks over time.
