I'll talk you out of the term "poverty spec", it's stupid. Buy the car YOU want.

I have the gts interior, auto dimming mirrors, and bose in mine. I could have lived without them. Money better spent on exhaust/oap/headers.

Surprisingly I do find the auto-dimming mirrors useful though.

Default GTS

I had a “rich spec” 718 GTS with build totaling 110K. Traded that in for a “poor” spec GT4. Haven’t even thought about the things it doesn’t have, and don’t want or need anymore.

I've been thinking the same. There are so many combos I've considered for my GTS build and I'm not really so in love with any of them that spending the extra money on stitching or more leather is an obvious choice to my frugal ***

I'm intrigued by the idea of a $0 in options build. I'd still do Guards Red, a leather shifter/steering wheel, the smoking package, and the footwell luggage net, but all those are free options. This would certainly be pretty unique, and I don't feel like I'd be missing out on anything super important.

So glad I spent the extra money on a nice interior on my gts.

Chiming in in agreement with what other folks have stated: get what you want--what makes YOU happy. That said, now that I've experienced lane change assist, I wouldn't get another car without it. Whether the top is up or down in my BGTS, too hard to see everything and was often surprised by cars in my blind spot in my previous Boxster. With LCA, now I feel safe and no one sneaks up on me. Strong recommendation! (and because I'm old and felt I'd reached a stage where I wanted the additional safety features, ACC has been great (and I barely miss my MT as the PDK shifts like butter and traffic no longer makes me nuts with the constant clutch work))

LOL, poverty spec'ed car with tax and license for ~$100K. Recommend spec'ing whatever will make you grin or chuckle every time you get back from a drive. Just got back from a weekend drive today(still in break-in period) and very pleased with exact options ordered, priceless.

Wouldn't dream of talking OP out of this. Just taken delivery of a CGTS with this approach. It's for driving not showing, and sometimes tracking.
No serious money options apart from PDK. 2-Way seats fit me just fine. No cost options for high touch areas in leather. Smokers option to tidy things up a little and no exterior badging.
Save your money for some meaningful add-ons later.
OK, I did weaken and get a paint upgrade after I saw it in the flesh.

I think options give car a bit of its personality...
My 3RS has full leather and a bunch of fluff... and it's nice to have those but I also enjoy the purity of my low spec Spyder which has only LWBS, PCCB and CarPlay... I enjoy the rubber dash because it's different from all my recent Porsche's which have all been loaded... low spec and performance stuff only reminds me of 914 I first drove and fell in love with as a teenager...
So go with spec you like, get what you need. Remember grass is always greener on other side..

Only you can answer the question. I could have ordered a Spyder with every option possible but didn't since I saw no need for certain things, but that was my preference and I never asked a bunch of strangers what I should or should not get. I always spec a car for me and not the next person, but you may not feel the same and that is fine: your car, your money.

Ok don’t do it, did I talk you out of it?

Kidding aside, I’d opt for the Burmester or base and upgrade it. Bose sucks in these cars which is odd because I think it sounds great in my wife’s 20 Cayenne.

My car is optioned with the GTS interior, premium package, LWBS, PDLS + and a couple of other things for an MSRP of 108k. Do I need the options, of course not but I like them. Do I need a Cayman, no but I like it. When the car is going to be six figures any way you might as well get what you want. I’d hate to regret a 100k purchase because I didn’t want to spend 110k or whatever. Doesn’t make any sense to me. If you really do like the no option model then go for it. If you think you’ll regret anything you left off I’d add it. Every car forum I know is full of can I retrofit this or that. The answer is always yes for big money and it makes more sense to trade it for what they really wanted all along.

TLDR, get what you really want the first time or it may cost you a lot more money getting what you really wanted the second time.

It’s going to be your car, so get what you want. Personally don’t like plastic interior, very simple. If I’m going to spend around $100k on a sports car, whether new or used, I want it to have at least leather interior. Auto dimming mirrors and CarPlay are helpful, having Bose is better than stock but still only ok. If I was going for a basic spec, I’d add these options at least. Good luck!
