Thoughts on Spyder Build?

Hey Mike, just discussing things here...
Hmmm, none of the MF controls work with NAV that I am aware of.
Yes, Google Maps will continue to navigate without cell signal for you IF you download the maps for the area you are headed through or if the area without coverage is small enough.
I too am an Android person, I have full Android integrated into my PCM via a standalone module, no phone required, and, I also have Android Auto enabled on the Spyder PCM and working just as it would if Porsche had enabled it from the factory. @simaservis1108 is the guy to contact for Android Auto and more.
And no, not opting for NAV won't delete the wart as that is for SM Sirius Radio... You can get rid of the wart in the GT4 RS, IIRC the only 718 model that has that option at this time.
Here is an interesting thread about NAV, or more correctly what NAV also brings to the table. PCM without Navigation, what would I be giving up? | Porsche 718 Forum

Here is the same build with nav and MF, I must say, I prefer the simplicity of the wheel without the functions but heat...:http://www.porsche-code.com/PN6M8RQ1
Here it is without the MF steering wheel: http://www.porsche-code.com/PN6LYEX0
Does the nav add any weight?

I also think that there are too many colors with the CCB, Blue, and red so that would mean another $900 to get black calipers...

Awesome, good to know. Thanks for throwing another monkey wrench into my build just when I thought I had things settled. Do you know if you need to have the nav installed to make Android Auto work? Did you need Carplay installed? If not, I may just go that route.

The MF wheel is personal preference, no argument there, I don't see it as I am looking up and out, I feel the controls and operate them without looking... even that heat switch!

I'm oscillating between the silver and the blue. The silver has the additional benefit that my wife won't notice and I won't have to explain to her why I bought another Porsche six months after buying one.

If you bought your current car 'decently', isn't your trade-in on the 981 going to be about what you paid for it? Also, on your new build at MSRP, aren't you getting a better-than-market price value on the new one? As the capper, if you do trade in your 981, don't you get a sales tax credit for that value against the purchase price of your new Spyder?

Alright, I think I may have settled on a build. I consider this a driver-oriented build as I took off a lot of the fru-fru stuff and added driver focused items as a priority as well at light weight items (with still a couple unnecessary Race Tec items, $600 sun visors?). I went to buckets, PCCB, and Burmester as the high-dollar options and kept the price at $127 which beats my objective of keeping it below $130. I deleted nav as I would almost never use it and I plan on installing Android Auto.
I have always been a fan of silver wheels. I also like the platinum but I had honestly picked the platinum wheels to hide the brake dust from iron rotors. Since going to CCB, that opens up more options. Looking at the silver tread, I like the silver on silver which also saves money. In addition, I do like the shiny Porsche logo on the silver on silver car.
The other thing that caught my eye on the silver car was the roof in red. I think it ties nicely with the interior and works well on the silver car and adds some color even with the roof up. I think I am happy with this build. Some may think that the yellow calipers don't work, but I think they are fine and true to the Porsche CCB look.

Here are some real-world pictures of similar cars stolen from the silver thread (some have black wheels but you get the idea):

Understand that we 'car guys' get 'questions' from the SO when we change cars. However, my rhetorical questions for you to consider and share with your wife:

Yes, the red top may be the defining item that draws her attention. I can obviously explain how it was a good deal but who knows if she will have the interest in listening to that. My last two Porsches I bough CPO and sold one for $3k over what I paid for it and the other broke even. I just sold my Giulia QV after four years of ownership for $4k less than I paid for it. I purchased her Volvo T8 one year ago for $15k under MSRP plus we got the tax incentive for the hybrid. Now I could probably sell it for MSRP but we would be out a family car.
Either way, she know I manage the automotive finances just fine, she was just not happy that I bought what she considers a very expensive motorcycle.

She wasn't happy that I bought a two-seater in the first place as we have a one-year-old and a four-year-old. In NC only once a child turns 5 can they ride in the front. So, as she says, "you bought an expensive toy only for you". My four-year-old will be five soon and I already have the booster seat for her. Yes, I'm buying at MSRP and paid under MSRP for the 981. However, it was a sensitive subject for her and no use to dig back into that. She tends not to notice things and lets me do what I want which was why I was actually surprised with her reaction when I bought the Spyder home. I told her it was a two-seater and showed her pictures and videos prior to purchasing but she obviously did not pay attention. I even explained that we have a sedan and SUV with baby seat in it so we don't deed a third baby hauler. It took her about a week of it sitting in the garage to notice that it was a two-seater.

Alright, after watching way too many YouTube videos, I made two changes to my final, final build. My lock date is not till March 25 so I have time. I am meeting with my SA today to walk through the options to ensure that I understand everything and run my card for the deposit. I decided that the logo on the arm rest is not essential and maybe a little much so that was deleted. I want to delete the Race-Tex sun visors as I think $600 is steep. However, I have the base ones on my 981 and I guess it is a flourish that I'm willing to pay for.
I do like the extended dash leather on my 981 and the way they wrap the area around the vents and clock. The 718 has the vents and clock not as integrated in the dash as they stick out a but more. I saw three different reviews complaining about the plastic on those area so, sigh, I added another $1,600 for the extended leather and Race-Tex on the dash. Inching the price a bit higher than I would like but I would hate to be staring at plastic on my dash in a +$100k car and thinking "I should have just paid the $1,600".
Anyone have a 718 without the dashboard trim package that bothers them? I'm assuming most people don't care so much but some of you are as OCD as I am. I also got a quote for full PPF once the car arrives. $5,200. Does that sound steep to you?
Here is my V3 submitted build. Back to $128,670 so still below $130k.http://www.porsche-code.com/PNPN8TC6

One FOMO item I didn't tick was the Burmester, but felt the Nick from Musicar would have a good Bose upgrade solution. So I am doing that at about the same cost as the Burmester. In my 991.2, I had his tweeters and pulled them out when I traded it on the 992. I sold them for nearly what I paid, so it makes much more sense and it's a fun project to do.

@MaddMike the build is looking good, I don't have extended leather on my dash and don't miss it at all, the extra coverage to so far forward that from the seating position you can barely see it and it is still black, therefore I don't miss it. In your case with a red dash unless that area is done in the same colour plastic covering it in leather makes perfect sense.
So the sun visors in Race-Tex, no problem there, but if leather is chosen do they come in the same red leather as the dash?, Also don't forget no matter the option they will come with the warning stickers on them, perhaps impossible to remove from either leather or Race-Tex so vinyl might be the solution and order aftermarket to get them clean?
I noticed no MF wheel and therefor no heat either... just asking!

I don't have it without leather by choice. My budget was wide open on this build, so I just selected those options that made sense to me plus a little FOMO. When I thought about the dash leather, I just didn't want to feel compelled to take care of the leather there (hot sun shining directly onto it over a number of years). I always plan to keep a car for a long time, but rarely do, lol. Other considerations for me was reflection into the windshield from extended deviated stitching and also balancing the interior with quality additions without making it busy to my eyes.

As far a dash leather damage, I have heard about this on forums but have never experienced it. I think if you park outside in the sun without protection for years and/or use chemicals to treat the dash, it may cause problems. My 981 is six years old and the dash looks like new. It was a Texas car so I'm sure it has had plenty of sun.
The deviated stitching I selected is black. The front part of the dash (at least in the 981) is black leather. I will confirm it is the same with my SA. I have no reflection issues (unlike my tan interior 997). The door jams are a nice extra and tie it all together. Obvious, you don't see that when driving. However, more important to me is the area around the stop watch and vents. Do you mind posting close ups of those? I'm just guessing here and going off YouTube as the configerator is not too detailed. Maybe it looks better in black but the red plastic looks cheesy? Really hard to tell.

I did not think of the warning stickers. Good point. May be impossible to clean that off Race-Tex. Leather should be easier but why bother at that point when the vinyl is so close?
Maybe I just delete the extended leather and visors, save $2k and keep the weight lower. I think I need to see the "pods" for the vents and clock up close to see how bad the plastic is.
Here they are (in leather) in my 981 vs. the config. pictures. You can see how they are more integrated in the 981 (which to my eye looks better) vs. the nacelles in the 718. Just seems there will be a lot of red plastic right there in front of you.
As far as the MF steering wheel, without the heated seats I'll also pass on the heated wheel as I kind of feel those go together and I prefer the way this looks anyway.
