I had an Interstate lead acid battery that was over 10 years old and still going strong when I decided I should replace it just because it was so old. The Bosch AGM I bought next was over 4 years old and still in great shape when I sold that car.
I took my led acid battery out of the car first thing when I drove it home form the dealership.

What you are described sounds like more of a PITA than changing out a battery every five years.

I use a battery maintainer every few months or so but certainly not every day.
