Default Anybody use their iPods pro in Spyder

Wondering if anyone uses their noise canceling earbuds in spyder to cutback on road noise when commuting with roof up...

I used Bose QuietComfort headphones whenever I'd drive my '06 Mazda Miata (NC-generation) to a track day event or AutoX. That definitely made the highway trips with the top up a lot more bearable! Seems like the same would apply to the Spyder.

Yes, I am wondering about noise health on long trips. Does anybody use Eargasm? Perhaps something non-electronic is best, but my AirPods Max have a long battery life so could use those.

What are you accustomed to driving?

My Spyder with the top up is quieter than anything I owned before the year 2000.

I brought a type of passive noise filtering earbuds when I was on a grand tour with my wife from LA to Seattle. We only used the earbuds once. The noise level is not that bad if the road was paved with asphalt. If you have roads like I5 in Seattle, that is a different story.

Not at all. My wife and I have been fine with the noise and I have not heard one complaint about it from any passengers including both of my parents. Keep in mind, our daily driver/kid shuttle is quiet and has dual paned front glass so it's a very quiet driving experience compared to the Spyder.

BTW, you're supposed to be driving with the top down anyways.

oh...on a side note. I think you messed up in your title. I think you meant to write AirPods Pro and not iPod Pros.

Well, it's illegal in some states and a bad idea on any public road.

My GT4 has a number of track focused modifications, and so it’s loud. When I take long commuting drives in it (like the 2.5 hour drive from my house to Thunderhill Raceway) I always use AirPods Pro with ANC on.

I have a 981 GT4 with a full FVD M&M race exhaust. To minimize exacerbating my tinnitus, I wear earplugs when driving. I can still hear my radar detector and radio with no issues. Since the factory stereo is so bad, I don't notice a big difference in sound quality. lol It's a little bit of an inconvenience but the difference in midrange performance is so great, that it's worth it. Even my wife agrees and she doesn't wear earplug unless we're going on a long trip.

When I picked up my 21' Spyder in NH, I drove it back to the midwest, and the airpod pros were a godsend. Definitely helped the road noise and a lot more comfortable than earplugs. Didn't get any weird buffeting or feedback with the top up during that time. The only con was that the battery life could only last 3-4 hours at a time.

Ha: I just bought a Spyder, took it for a long drive last night with the top down where I had to do some highway miles and thought "Hmm...maybe I should get AirPods; I could ask on Rennlist but I'll probably get yelled at for not being a purist and enjoying the flat six orchestra"! Good thing I found this thread instead of starting another on the same subject.

I'm driving from SF to Las Vegas for a conference at the end of April, then doing a long road trip in May, so I'm thinking noise cancelling headphones maybe a good thing for highway miles. Of course, my goal is to avoid as many highway miles as possible!
