What mileage where you at on your 718 4.0 when you first did “Launch Control”?

I won’t bother with this again, but it was fun to try.

I tried it tonight mainly because of this thread lol, in the manual it has less utility (novelty?) than the PDK of course. Here’s what I did on a farm road, sport +, traction control off, floored it (tach went to 5k), let the clutch out and wow! The grip was good, some traction control violence, and I didn’t shift at the red line into second. Fast car (for me anyway).

I've done it a dozen times I'd wager in the six months I've had the car. I waited until the car had about 1,500 miles on it. I always thoroughly warm the car up first.

My first launch was at 1002 miles. I have done it a few more times since. The local Porsche dealer held a customer appreciation event at Mountain Air Country Club in Burnsville, NC. We were allowed to use their airstrip for two hours.

Personal experience with my new 2021 manual BGTS, I don’t’ recommend trying to launch it. Dealer installed a new goodwill clutch at 3k miles after I tried; traction control on/off, sport/sprot+ on/off. In my car, the clutch slipped at 4k rpm regardless of driving mode. 3k rpm would probably be ok …. for a while.
Im currently learning to appreciate the BGTS for what it is, not trying to operate it like cars I had before it.
The Porsche tech told me the clutch is not capable (for me), and he has had the discussion with many owners in his 20 years experience.
I thought the manual world be/should be capable on the street and I was wrong. Live and learn. I think tracking it is a better application for a GTS 4.0
