GTS suspension options
Good morning all
i just got myself on the waitlist for a new GTS 4.0 and the sales guy talked me into opting for the PASM option which raises the car 20mm but it also replaces the sway bars for the smaller S version , he claimed that if I wasn’t tracking that car I would hate the suspension , I have a 2016 S and I find that a little on the soft side during spirited driving in Sports Plus mode but I do appreciate the Normal option when driving in the City . I also have an older 944 with modified slightly stiffer suspension and I love driving that on winding country roads but hate it in the City
im pretty much asking for all your opinions as I still have plenty of time to change my mind and I feel that what’s the point of ordering that car and then opt for the S suspension or am I wrong to think that?
thanks
Leonel

Moved this to the 718 GTS 4.0/GT4/Spyder/25th Anniversary forum for better response.
With respect to OP's question I find the Spyder's suspension pretty compliant and have no regrets.
You can also do an advanced search on typical terms this forum, its been discussed repeatedly.

A buddy ordered his GTS 4.0 with PASM. I took it out on my favorite roads and had zero complaints whatsoever. It was perfectly comfortable, but at the same time I felt it gave up nothing in terms of backroad performance.
I track and autocross my cars, so I would stick with PASM Sport were I ordering, but that's just me.
I did joke that it cost me around $2,500 to make my 718 GT4 as comfortable and stable as my buddy's PASM GTS. That $2,500 being TPC offset rear toe links (plus install) and a DSC Sport module. Before that, my GT4 was super sketchy over washboard pavement or if it encountered a mid corner bump. The GTS suffered none of those issues. Rock solid right off the factory floor.

I have a Cayman GTS4.0 with the Sport PASM. It's perfect and looks better if you are into that.
I would not downgrade to the standard PASM.
Sadly, the Sport PASM is more compliant than the X73 suspension in my 981 BGTS. Which I thought was perfect for a sports car.

I think he’s simply forming an opinion based on customers making comments like “this car is much stiffer than I expected”.
The customers that liked the setup wouldn’t have said anything.
At the end of the day both setups are probably pretty good. Just decide what you want and how and where you are using the car. Pick one and don’t look back.

Both suspensions would perform fine for you, but just remember, you can't unsee wheel gap like this... https://rennlist.com/forums/market/1266563

Most reviews I've read state that the difference in stiffness is marginal between PASM and SPASM. If the ride height creates a problem for you with a steep driveway or something, that might be a reason to consider PASM. Otherwise SPASM is 9/10 times the better option.

The ride in my BGTS4 is perfectly fine with the SPASM. You write about your penchant for a bit more responsiveness out of the suspension, you seem to answer your own question. Curious what your SA said to talk you into it in the first place.

Why is it sad that Sport PASM is more compliant than the X73 suspension?

I have a Spasm Cgts 4.0. Perfect suspension for me as a pseudo daily driver and weekend fun car. Had pasm in a cayman before this car and felt it was a little too soft but spasm feels just right. No problems with ground clearance or rough ride.
