Default GT4 w/ Akra link pipes

Got the link pipes installed a few weeks ago and I love the new sound! With that being said, is there an easy way to get rid of the dead zone between 2k and 6k rpm with the sport exhaust button turned on? I barks really good when sitting still and starts to howl around 5 to 6k but the sound goes dead in the middle.

Thoughts? I'm sure it has to do with the valves but why does it bark so well from idle?

TIA,

p.

I think you need a valve controller or modify the valves to always open. I got the one from CG and I leave open all the time. I have the Kline exhaust/oap and the sound at low revs is much nicer sounding with respect to tone and actually noticeable with the valves open.

My exhaust valve vacuum hose came loose last month. The booming drone between 2K and 4K was so intolerable I could barely drive the car. Took it straight to my indy first thing Monday morning and he reattached and secured the vacuum line.

I had previously been considering a valve controller, but not now! In my book, Porsche knew what they were doing on this one.

Yeah, for whatever reason, whether it is the motor or the layout of the car, it just has an inherent drone problem in the lower RPM range. I too believe that the values work on this car the way they do for that very reason and it was intentional.

Get the cargraphics valve controller. Best investment on the 718 platform.

I recall seeing something about this but I thought the valves opened under vacuum? In other words, how does plugging the lines keep the valves open?

TIA<

I can't tell you how they work, but I can tell you if you disconnect the vacuum line(s) the valves are open.

+1 for Valve Controller, best bang for buck mod so far. Night and day difference. I have Akra OPF as well, so I am speaking from experience

Actually it is the opposite, the valves a sprung open and the vacuum closes them, that is so 'if' there is a leak you are not in a dangerous situation for the engine at higher RPM when it needs the valves open for flow they could be closed by that leak.

And... that is why there is a bark at startup before the vacuum has a chance to close them (assuming PSE off).

As for me Cargraphic Valve controller gets my vote for full user control.

Solely out of curiosity, is there something about the Cargraphic valve controller that makes it better than the Soul or Akra controllers?

I know of is that it installs from above, no need to tap into vacuum lines, simply unplug a connector and connect in the CG controller, removal is the same, very clean and no trace it was even there ( a biggie for me).

And... it does remember the last setting chosen (Auto-PSE or Open), there was some debate if the Akra and Soul did this?

that alone makes it worthwhile! IMO

Thanks for the confirming the memory of the last setting, I have the CG controller fitted and wondered if I was imagining things 😀

Cheers,
Harry.
