Straight pipes does some pretty good reviews, usually very applicable for the average driver. Was surprised this comparison was so drag strip focused. Hopefully they do a full review of a GTS4.0, maybe the Cayman. But still enjoyed it.
I had an opportunity to buy a new C8 last fall before I decided I definitely wanted the CGTS4.0. I have no regrets.

Interesting that the GTS 4.0 has a claimed 0-60 time of 3.8 and the C8 has a claimed time of 2.9. Yet in real world (cold) conditions they were neck and neck in the 3.7 range. Makes me wonder what kind of BS our american reviewers C&D/MT pull to get those number out of the Corvette. Based on those reviews, i would've expected the C8 to blow the GTS out of the water in a straight line.

You put summer compound tires in cold climates on a cold day and you are VERY traction limited, mid-engine or not.
Those manufacturer figures are under ideal conditions and in much warmer weather.
It's not rocket science.

With new equipment they report with the standard 1ft rollout. This explains it: https://www.caranddriver.com/feature...hange-rollout/

The Corvette is such an ugly car. Looks nice when you first see it, but the more you see it you realize it's just a pig.
Yeah, the Emira is a much nicer looking car.

The Emira is a home run. The best looking Lotus ever to me and something I'd actually buy and drive. The Corvette looks like an exaggeration of a car. It's like what you'd get if you asked some kindergarteners to draw a Ferrari, but with straight lines.

Performance aside, I briefly considered the C8, but other then the difficulty of getting an allocation and it being the first model year the styling is just too edgy for me, nothing really flows on the outside it seems to be a jumbled collection of openings thrown together on the body where needed... I would say it is striking but not beautiful.

Well said. I feel like they sculpted a beautiful front 80% of the car and the clay clumped up at the back. They look great driving past me but miss the mark when you have time to take a close look around. They are fun to drive.

It is even more noticeable when you have an aftermarket exhaust on the car. I have a Corsa Exhaust on the SS 1LE and when it starts cutting timing, the exhaust note becomes muddy and sputtery. If I mix in a few gallons of 100 race gas, the exhaust note becomes very crisp and smooth.
GM tunes them VERY conservatively.
