Default Chrome “718” on Shifter

I’d love to replace the 718 emblem on the shifter with one that says Spyder (on the GT4 is says GT4). I haven’t removed the boot to see how the emblem is attached, but I figure it’s either glued on or attached by a couple of small pins. Either way, it should be easy to remove. Creating a replacement emblem that says Spyder should be easy for someone with a 3D printer. There must be someone on the forum with such skills??? If so, you could probably sell many.

I was thinking the other day I wish they just gave me the shift boot without any plate at all.

I couldn't agree more, it's flat out uncomfortable.

Are you referring to the 718 that’s stamped and recessed on the shifter surround?

I assume 981 shifter would fit no problem, they don't have a logo. Wanted to buy one as leather steering wheel & boot option comes with black stitching while the rest of the car is optioned with silver.

Does anyone know if 981 GT Silver stitching and 718 Silver stitching are the same color?

I guess use aluminum 3D print may able to solve the problem...
However, they are expensive...

well I can’t speak for everyone but for what it’s worth, this is the item I am referring to. I wish to banish it. Unnecessary visual noise.

I wish it said Spyder at least. I ended up buying the oem 911R shift **** and boot from my dealer (cheaper than Suncoast) and that also eliminates the unnecessary piece of bling.

Jeff,

I love this ****/boot setup & am contemplating the same purchase. Just have to mentally get over the ~$1k price tag for basically as cosmetic "non-essentiality"

Let be be an enabler then In a fun manual sports car, is there any more important piece of equipment than the shifter? Your hand will be on this all the time and if you love the 911R look and feel, you get to appreciate this purchase with every shift. For me I’m having the dealer bake this into the overall sale and handle the install so I’ve already forgotten it came with some costs…can’t remember exactly how much anymore…getting foggier as the months go by

So please someone help me out? What exactly is wrong with a 718 emblem in, on, around a 718 Porsche?
