Default Sound Comparison: 718 Spyder PDK vs Shelby GT350R stock exhaust flat out.

Made a quick video comparing the 2. IMO I prefer the GT350R especially below the 5k rpm range. However, will compare again once I change to the JCR or Soul rear valved exhaust hopefully after summer.

disagree. the Spyder 'sounds' better. The GT350 is just loud in a blunt muscle car (think NASCAR) sorta way that I liked when is was 16 and grew out of. Once uncorked with a better exhaust, the Spyder will crush the GT350 with a sound that is equally loud but way more sophisticated (think F1). Conversely there is nothing you can do to make the GT350 sound better... it is what it is.

Depends on what you like. Flat 6 vs V8; Wail vs rumble. In my current set up (JCR Rear with gutted OAP), there is not much i would rather listen to beyond 5K RPM pulling in second gear. Have had rowdy AMG v8s in past, but they didn’t have the smoothness of the flat 6.

I’d like to hear that! Full SOUL system on the way.

lol. I know for a fact the opening of belly doesn’t make a sound (unless somethings gone wrong)

we can sit here and debate flat 6 vs. V8, but at the end of the day one needs an aftermarket solution to sound good while the other works out of the box.

folks in 718forum are comparing 4 with 6 cylinder. We are comparing 6 with 8. I am sure there are folks on some forum comparing 8 with 10 or 12s. Think we should stop measuring cylinders. Good that there is an option for everyone. Personally, I looked into the 350 as a better bang for buck. But the whole engine exploding lawsuit put me off. As luck would have it, Porsche has an engine recall too, but they are dealing with much better than Ford.

as for sounding good stock, I am sure somewhere on a Shelby forum, people are discussing how to fix and improve the sound.

I love all cars including American muscle cars, the Mustang especially. It is hard to find a better bang for the buck. Every time I’ve gotten close to buying one of the top end models, I just can’t get over feeling like at their core, they are a $25k rental car with extra bits added on.

aaaaand the 'sound' coming from the Ford reminded me of a NASCAR race.... aaaand It doesnt SOUND good to me. It just sounds loud, noisy and cheap like a UPS van. There must be a certain tonal quality at a higher pitch for a car to rise to the level of 'sounding' good. Porsche has that, Ford doesnt.

Very few things sound as good as a flat plane V8.

This includes a Spyder.
