GT4 Wide Angle Side Mirrors

GT4 Wide Angle Side Mirrors
These mirrors are standard (I think) in Europe but are not offered in the USA (illegal?). I had them on my Audi TT for 19 years and loved them. And, yes, I know how to adjust my mirrors as to not have a blind spot, but the additional view afforded by these "aspherical" mirrors (as the manufacturer calls them) is welcome. They are available from wingmirrorstore in Great Britain on eBay and can be a bit hard to find. The eBay title is: For Porsche 718 Cayman 16-20 Left Passenger Side Aspherical Mirror Glass Heated. Obviously the title changes for Right Side, and our Drivers Side. Suncoast offers this type of mirror for $139 each. These were about $60 each, delivered from England.
Removing the OEM mirrors requires motoring them down and towards the car as far as they will go. Then, working your skinny fingers as far behind the glass as you can get them, apply pressure. The "glass" (I think they are plastic) will snap off its holder and reveal the two wires powering the heater. Those wires can be a bit tough to pull off so support the terminals as you work off the wires. Those same wires were too loose on the new mirrors and required that the connectors be crimped tighter with pliers. No problem. I lightly lubed the plastic tangs on the new mirrors to facilitate installation.
The two images show the before and after on the Driver's side. I tried to position the door handle of the reflected car in the center of the mirror so the additional view can be observed easily. Apparently the new mirrors are slight convex over their entire surface, not just at the outside edge. Extra credit if you can identify the reflected car.

I've used these on my Porsches for years. First with a Boxster when I realized I couldn't see ANYTHING other than dead behind me in the car if the top was up. They're awesome (but I got the OEM's from Suncoast, to get the autodimming function)
