Default Aftermarket rims that aren't insane $$$?

Checking the usual suspect places (TireRack, Discount Tire, etc.) not finding much in the way of rims available.

My plan is to order my Spyder with the "lesser" tire (High Performance vs. the Cup2's) as past experience tells me the Cup is a terrible autocross tire, terrible in the wet, etc. Plan will be to leave the OE tires for daily driving, etc. and buy a second set of rims to mount up a more popular proven AX tire (RE71R, A052, etc.)

I'm sure I can buy a custom set of HRE's or Fikse's at $2500/rim but as the rim is for purpose vs. for pretty... I'd prefer something like a basic OZ Allegerita, etc.

Those of you with 718 GT4s, etc. who track their cars - what have you done for rims w/track tires?

Apex and Titan 7 seem to be "decent" track wheels if you don't want to spend a ton. Forgeline is next up and then if you want the "best" and lightest wheels out there you go with the BBS FI R or HRE R101LW which are somewhere around 16 pounds front/19 pounds rear for 20's.

BBS CH-R is reasonable...have a 19" set available 8.5/10

APEX & TITAN7 are good choices for the $$

BBS motorsport trackday forged monoblocks 19" are $6600/set

I'm also planning on getting the Apex SM-10s. I'd like the 9"F and 10.5"R, though, to give me as much tire flexibility as possible, so other wheel options are hard to find, particularly used examples. Right now I'm running old 997 wide-body wheels. They're 8"F 11"R and require a spacer, and still rub the brake ducts a bit at full lock. I don't mind them so much for winter duty, but for the track I'd want a proper setup.

BC Forged will build you custom forged wheels for less than the price of many off-the-shelf wheels.

This is a current thread where a user just got a set custom made by BC Forged in GT4 fitments for autoX: https://rennlist.com/forums/718-gts-...19-wheels.html

Saved you multiple clicks - that thread doesn't discuss price: BC wheels seem to start at $3200+

19" BBS CH-R seem to fit with iron brakes but have very little clearance between the rotor and caliper: https://rennlist.com/forums/gt4/1069...with-pics.html

Yeah seems like those are a good option if you're fine with a 9" front rim (tho I have no idea on cost...)

As I do a lot of SCCA-based autocross (both SCCA and a couple clubs that base their rules on SCCA's), I need an 8.5" front rim to be compliant. That said, sounds like Apex has something in the works and therefore might still be an option by the time my car is actually in my garage.

They're ~$2000, but I don't think they're making an 8.5" rim right now. Smallest width I can see is 9".

Oh wow at $2k I will definitely hold off on buying something until I get closer to my delivery date.

In the Apex thread the guy mentioned they have heard the requests for an 8.5" wheel and are adding it to their requirements list for the next wheel they're designing, with an anticipated release date of this coming Fall. Timing might line up perfect.

I've bought a set of Flow Ones from TireRack with Hankook RS4s for my 2013 Boxster S. 5 DE weekends last year including a double stint at VIR with my son. My only issue is you can't lay them face down without damaging the wheel. They have good reviews on the TireRack site and are significantly less than other wheels.

I paid $247.60 for 18x9.5+50 fronts and $261.67 for 18x10+40 rears in early 2020. According to their website the wheel and tire combo technically doesn't fit. I talked to one of the TireRack techs when I bundled them with the tires and he agreed they would be OK. They are slightly under diameter but have the right front/rear diameter ratio. About 3 mph at 70 mph. Easy enough to check the TireRack website.
