Help-me choose : 718 spyder or 911T

*all* the 7 speed manuals are based on the PDK transmission, modified to operate manually ... the 6MT in the GT cars is a different beast entirely designed as a manual from the get go...

Which, IMO, makes then slightly "vague", especially when downshifting from 7 to 6. The 6-speed GT box is excellent.

Thanks guys! all good feedback. So the Spyder will feel more special down the line than the Carrera T. I get the open roof, ( I used to own a 981 boxter) and nothing beats driving with the roof down.
Driving experience: I don't care much for brutish speed. Engaging driving, simple as possible, without the fear of having the car getting away from under me in case of mistake.
Coming from a boxster, i thought of "upgrading" to a 911 and that I would find the above with the 911 CT. The moonroof, somewhat providing some of the open air experience.
I see now, the Spyder might be the better "upgrade"... please keep it coming...

I ended up choosing the Spyder because i want to experience both. The limited run and limited timeline for NA mid engine made me choose the Spyder. The 911 T Spec wasnt perfect (i didn't love the carbon bucket seats on a non GT car) I and have better odds experiencing the T in the future then a brand new Spyder. i am not sure this helps but wanted to share. Good luck!

Thank you all for the feedback and the explanations. My wife said if it is a 911 it has to be PDK so she can drive too (she can't drive manual cars). So the Spyder way we go... I think I got stuck in the dilemma because I once wanted a base 911 a bit special, but I get it that the Spyder is the car to own. IF only I could convince this AD to work with me on the PTS... I initially wanted chalk or carrara white, but I found out that PTS was available. theoretically at least as the AD keeps telling me it is near impossible to get on the Spyder. Is that your experience?

ps the MT in the spyder/ gt4 is fantastic and your wife could easily learn MT on it. Auto blip matches revs on the down shifts and if you keep your student shifting around 4500rpm the rpm band is so large they won’t over rev it. The gears are pretty long and the torque accommodating. It’s both fast and friendly

I did this for a while. Manual Miata and PDK 991.
Totally different experience.
991 is gone and waiting for manual Spyder.
Miata made me a drop top convert. Now I will have 2 drop tops. Will let you guys know how it turns out. I drive the Miata in the snow also when it is not too deep.

Regardless you won't be wrong either way

I get the dealer's message. I did repeatedly mention I don't mind waiting an additional 6 months for it. The idea is that it will be my special car. Also, here in Dubai, in a couple of months it will be too hot to drive with the top down as the Spyder is meant to be driven. That explains why the GT4 is more popular. Anyway, you convinced me to stick with my first choice, the Spyder, and just forget about the CT...
@ AlexCeres and all: any idea as to what the criteria of eligibility for PTS are?
