Can anyone report on if the VW oil drain plug will work on our gt4? https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07CQZ9M2X...v_ov_lig_dp_it
It looks identical to me. if you have tried it, please let us know your results

Yeah, I bet it's the same, lots of V W parts are the same as Porsche ones, except usually they are cheaper. In this case the price is the same so the only reason to use it is proximity.

My wife drives a VW with one of those plastic drain plugs that has been through quite a few oil changes & I'd recommend paying extra for the OEM part rather than use aftermarket. Though I'm sure there are good quality aftermarket plugs out there I've had dribbles from properly seated aftermarket drain plugs that I picked up on Amazon out of convenience. The casting of the part and the o-ring likely need to be spot on to get a good seal. Relative to the entire cost of the oil change, especially with the amount of oil these cars require, a couple extra $$ for the OE VW/Audi/Porsche plug isn't really significant and worthwhile insurance against drips.

Someone did that and posted it on the forums. I can't find it now. They drilled a large round hole for the oil filter and I assume a smaller one for the drain plug. My GT350 also has a trap door for the oil filter, works great. Oil gets everywhere anyway, but at least I don't have to drop the aero pieces. lol
