Thanks Terry! Love all those photos. Is that a spoiler (wing) on the rear of his ‘61 vette?

My Dad had a 1967 Corvette convertible (ordered new). He sold it the year my older sis was about to get her driving permit. I used to love riding in it.

In high school, my boyfriend (now husband for too many years to admit ) had a 1977 Corvette, and then had an accident and was able to order a 1978 Silver Anniversary with L82 and 4speed. I used to take it out for drives. One day, I returned home (to my parent’s) at our agreed upon time, to find him waiting for me. I pulled in the driveway and turned off the car. It was making all those wonderful metallic “ping” and creaking sounds that a hot car makes after being “exercised”. Suddenly, all four center caps simultaneously dropped off the wheels (as though they were too exhausted to hang on any more).

To this day I have never lived down that story.

I will definitely “hang tough”. You do the same!

Greetings Carol,

My brother's 61 Vette he added that Rear-Spoiler back in 1979 I think.
It looks good but he actually did it as a Safety-Feature as it has the 3RD-Brake-Light built in.

Love the Story on the Vette when you stopped and all Four "Center-Caps" fell-off. LOL !!!

So you Married your High-School (Sweet-Heart)

Cathy and I have been Married for Plus 40-Years now.

Carol, here is something I ordered for my brother with the C-8 Z-51 Vette in Accelerate-Yellow.
It was a Special Order and took months for it finally arrive to him.
Anyway, it has his name, NORMAN, and in the Bright-Yellow to match his Z-51.

Be safe,
Terry

Smile I'm visiting my two older brothers in Frankfort, KY. on August 2nd 2025

August 4th 2025
Monday

Hello everyone,

I finally made the decision on making the trip to Frankfort, KY. to see my two older brothers this past Saturday.
One thing that prompted me was a huge change in temperatures for here, Franklin, TN. and for Frankfort, KY. where my brothers are.
It was only going to be in the low 80's for the high.
Versus here a few days ago being 99-Degrees and same for Frankfort, KY.

Anyway, I got up and off I went on my merry-way.

I took this using the Delayed-Timer on my Verizon-Cellphone.
You really never-ever know what will happen with any one of us brothers at our ages so thought I better take and retain the below image of us guys together.

As it turned-out I called the Vette brother, hands-free, so he knew I was on my way so he would be home.
He informed me he was going to drive to Lexington, KY. to a Corvette event.
It would work for that brother as well as our older brother and me as I would arrive in time for us to all three to attend.
My older brother decided to ride with me as he hardly ever sees me anymore as I don't any-longer make that round-trip as frequently as I use to many years ago.

Anyway, it was a Super-Nice Corvette Event.
It was held at a Prestigious golf course in Lexington, KY.
They had a live band, multiple food vendors, as well as a mobile ice-cream truck, Yummy.

Also, multiple Portable, Porta-Pottys, for us older attendees !!!

After the Corvette Event we drove back to my Vette brother's house and hung-out for awhile.

It was so early in the afternoon I decided to just go ahead and drive back as I had plenty of time as it stays light really late.
Note*
Also, back in Franklin, TN. where I live Sunday's weather had Really-really changed from Low-Percentage of rain to "Rain & Thunderstorms".
Rain was starting around 4 AM and Thunderstorms all day on Sunday.
As it turned-out the Local-Weather-Forecast was right on Target it did exactly what they Forecasted.
Thankfully the GT4 was back in it's garage all Safe & Sound as well as Pristine looking.

Yes-yes-yes guys & gal, Carol, I did take pictures to share.

Selfie, I sent to my Vette brother of me leaving to Frankfort, KY. to visit him and our Older brother.

Next pictures are when I arrived and took pictures of the vehicles before leaving to the Corvette Event in Lexington, KY.

Next my older brother's Dodge SUV that he Really-really likes.
It has Header's, Dual-Exhaust etc. that he had changed.
He has an "Injured-Leg" so No-Sports-Car for him !!!

Heading to the Corvette Event in Lexington, KY.

Arrived at the Corvette Event.
1st order of Business was getting a "Soft-Serve" ice-cream-cone.

I know BLURRY images as it's next-to-impossible on a BUMPY Interstate to take a clear picture while holding a cellphone driving.
Following my Vette brother back to his house in his 61 Vette.

I just arrived back home in Franklin, TN.
Longggggggggggggg day and lots of driving for an 80-year-old-guy.

As always Terry, looks like you had a great day with your brothers, sharing cars! Thanks for the photos and narrative.
It’s nice that the three of you were able to be together and enjoy a fun event.

I will add that I almost never let my fuel get THAT low!

That picture of the two Vettes and your GT4 is 🔥. Beautiful lineup. I also didn't realize how amazing the first gen Corvette looked from the rear view (although those aggressive offset wheels probably help).

Glad you got some good weather and had some fun out there.

Hi Carol,

I know the fuel was getting LOWER than I like it but I was tired and right at the house with approximately 74-miles to empty.
Shell station is only like 2-miles from my house.

It was a good visit and we all had a good time at the Vette event.

RocketGuy3,

The images did turn-out IMO A-OK especially at his house.

His 61-Vette does look pretty darn good when seen in person.
It even has Cruise-Control and did have after-market A/C until it was not any-longer repairable.
It has a 5-Speed built Automatic now.

Below is that same brother when he was in his 20's with our Dad.

Same Vette below with Cross-Ram set-up.

Back when he was into Serious Drag-Racing it.
See the Trophies behind him.

Also, look to the Far-Right on the floor that's the Racing-Engine for it.
You'll see clearer images of it below.
It was Super-Bad-*** !!!

Later time images of the 61-Vette.

Thanks for checking the Post out everyone,

Smile Trip with wife ...............

Greetings all,

So, Cathy (wife) said I'll ride with you down to Huntsville, Alabama if you like.

If you all recall it's been right at 4-Years since I did the Porsche 2,000 Miles "Break-in-Miles" per their guidelines.

See below,
Oct 25, 2021 | 05:04 PM
Okay I did the 2,000 miles Porsche Break-in so that's done and over with ...
https://rennlist.com/forums/718-gts-...l#post17746445

Off we went to Huntsville, Alabama together and seriously it was Super-Fun having Cathy with me.
It's actually not all that far 1-way but it does take some time as your on 2-lane, country roads, traveling through some Very-very small communities etc.
Speed limits vary from 30 MPH, 40 MPH, 45 MPH, to a high of 55 MPH so your not covering a lot of miles quickly that's for sure.
But, that's why ^^^ I originally picked the route for the Porsche 2,000 "Break-in-Miles".
And if any of you are wondering about the Local-Law-Enforcement
Yes, indeed they are Definitely around and YES they would certainly pull you over in a Bright, "Racing-Yellow" GT4, Sports Car.
On the way we both commented to one another on things we remembered seeing on past trips.
What we didn't see was any of the Huge, Cotton-Fields, with the Bright-White, Cotton-*****.
Cathy said we should drive back around the 1st of October as that's when you would see that.
So, we will be doing that somewhere around the 1st of October and if there are any Cotton-Fields I'll try to snap some pictures.

We were in No-Hurry at all so I did take pictures that I'll post below for those that like seeing images.

All comments regarding the below images are "Above" each image:

Take note that in Franklin, TN. where we live it was only 77-Degrees as we head-out.
I had 148-miles to empty per the display.
I intentionally don't fill the tank full as I add 93-Octane as we stop at each Shell on the Trip to Huntsville, Alabama.
So, some Really-really small, remote Shell stations like you to Purchase something to use their "Bath-Rooms" believe it or not.
Keep in mind we are not on the Interstate ................
We are traveling on the now Old-2-Lane Roads as we go through Super-Small communities.
Note*
I reset the Trip-Odometer to 0.0 to track miles, Going & Coming.

Cathy is in GT4 as I continue to snap pictures as usual.
Full-Coverage .............

I don't do a lot of Selfies but this time I did one as we were pulling-out.
Fun times ahead guys .............

And below is that Sunoco Station I saw roughly 4-years ago breaking in the GT4.
BTW, this is the only Sunoco Station I have seen not back in KY.
It actually Shocked me some as I saw it the 1st time and Definitely put a Smile on my Face instantly.
These 2-images are for my Brother Norman that has the Corvettes you have seen pictures on earlier.
When I was living in Frankfort. KY. as well as Lexington, KY. those of us with Fast, Modified machines ran 260 Blue Sunoco Gas !!!
Fond memory for this now 80-year old guy.

We just pulled in at the Shell Station in Huntsville, Alabama.

Notice the Trip miles was, 115.6.
And the local Huntsville, Alabama temperature was, 91-Degrees versus when we left Franklin, TN. it was 77-Degrees.
Much-much hotter down South for sure and the Automatic A/C was performing perfectly.
Also, if you recall me going over the Posted-Speed-Limits look at what the Estimate says when I Filled up with the Shell 93-Octane Gas, 508-Miles to Empty.

Here is a short story on our stop at a McDonald's on the way back from Huntsville.
We stopped and went in to order and to eat, plus usual bathroom thing.
Anyway, so I order something I thought was Super-Simple so should be like Super-Fast-Service, I-Thought !!!
My order was the, Fish-Filet, Small Fry, Small Diet-Coke.
Cashier, gives me the Stand-Up, Order-Card to place on Table.
Cathy comes out from the bathroom and she orders a Chocolate Milkshake which is Delivered Super-Fast as it comes out of a machine.
She says after awhile how long have you been waiting?
I actually was wondering why they hadn't yet brought out my order but told Cathy, should be soon.
Moving forward ...............
More and more time goes by and finally Cathy says, it's been like 30-Minutes did you know that?
I saw two employees in front of our table and got their attention and ask if they had a Manager?
They said yes, I said ask the Manager to come to our table, please.
She comes out and, seriously looks like she's "Scared-to-Death" and I hadn't said anything to her yet.
I said it's been like 30-Minutes ago since I placed my order and still don't have it.
She says, what did you order, I told her and she Disappears back in the Kitchen area.
Time passes and still No-Up-Date from the Super-Young, SCARED Manager.
I told Cathy, let's just get out of here as I don't think I'd now trust to eat what they bring out if they ever do !!!
We got up with No-Fuss and left ...............
Something we both noticed, the employees all looked like they Were in H/S as Freshman and playing around instead of taking care of Business.
Also, while sitting waiting facing the cashier I observed multiple ladies approach the Cashier and were Complaining their orders were "Incorrect".
Then right before I said to Cathy, let's just leave, another older Lady walked up to the Cashier and asked for the Manager's Name, wrote it down, and as she passed our table it was Obvious she was PISSED-OFF !!!

Who would have ever thought a McDonald's in 2025 would be that "SCREWED-UP.

Now for a 100% Totally different dining experience not far from that McDonald's heading home from Huntsville, AL.
This time it all went Beautifully from placing the order to receiving our Food & Drinks.
Cathy says when we drive back down 1st part of October she wants us to Stop on the way back at RICK'S, B/Q.
Rick's B/Q was a short drive from the McDonald's.

We just arrived at the Shell Station in Pulaski, TN.
The one I stopped at on all those trips back and forth to Huntsville, AL. doing the 2,000 miles "Break-In".
It has changed ownership and the Super-Friendly Lady, Brenda is No-Longer working there.
She quit ............
I used to look forward to stopping and chatting with Brenda "Going & Coming" to Huntsville, AL.
She actually became a Friend as you will see below.
I Truly have a Warm place in my Heart for Brenda.

Below is the same Shell Station but No-Brenda inside.

We have arrived back home.
The Total-Miles was, 213.1.
Miles left to Empty, 389.
Time 5:26 PM in the evening.
We left at 11:00 AM that morning.

6 1/2 Hrs. approximately just enjoying with wife "Cathy".
Us both enjoying our time together and sharing Fond-Memories on years past and travels to Huntsville, Alabama.

Porsche, 2021 Cayman 718 GT4 in "Racing-Yellow" back home in it's Climate-Controlled-Garage.

Thanks for sharing this Post with me guys & Gal,

Greetings Carol,

It was Really-really fun/nice having Cathy with me on the trip to Huntsville.
We both saw so many things that reminded us of past trips.
Cathy said we should drive back down around the middle of October to just maybe see some of the "Cotton-Fields".
We will definitely be doing that.

Rick's B/Q was 1st Class for sure.
Cathy has already put in her request to STOP at Rick's B/Q on the way back Home from Huntsville next time.

Hang-Tough little Lady,
Terry

Smile Porsche Cayman GT4 in "Racing-Yellow" fully detailed see below ...

Greetings everyone,

Well I woke-up around 8 AM "Central-Time" this morning and took a quick glance at the local weather, temperature.
It was only in the low 70's.
So, it's been a couple of days since we got back from that drive to Huntsville, Alabama.
I decided to do a Full-Detail on the GT4 to get it all set for our next long drive back to Huntsville in the hopes to see some of those "White-Cotton-Ball" fields.
Cathy did say we need to wait until the (Middle-of-October) as that's better timing for us to see the Cotton if there is any this year.

There's one thing for sure the "Racing-Yellow" color on the GT4 just does not show Dust etc. unless you Really-really look CLOSE.
Same for the Silver-Wheels ..................

The most "Time-Consuming" part of doing the Detailing are the 4-Bright-Silver-Wheels even if your running the "Hawk-Ceramic-Low-Dust" brake-pads as I am.

But ......................

Using the Adam's "Quick-Detailer" with my "Super-Plush, Soft Micro-Fiber-Towels" does an Awesome-Job.
Also works nicely on the Bright-Silver-Wheel spokes & barrels.

https://adamspolishes.com/products/a...WbzhRZzTyX4FE5

Before I started ...........

Here are some images I took after I finished the Detailing:

After I finished the body and the wheels including the inside barrels.

It's all completed and parked in it's place waiting for the next trip with Cathy & I.

Later,
Terry

Hi Jim Dillard,

..... Always-always a pleasure seeing & hearing from you here on Rennlist.

Well, believe it or not buddy next month, October, the GT4 "Stealth-Machine" will be 4-Years Old.
And now has, 12,733 miles on it.
If I didn't tell someone the above they still think the GT4 is Brand-New when seen in person as we travel and stop in it.
And the On-Lookers are still Always-always doing the 2-Thumbs-Up and coming over to it checking it out in person.
And you know it makes No-Difference if it's here local or like driving to Huntsville, Alabama.
It has and still draws "Major-Attention" every-time I take it out and honestly I love that.

Take care and remain patient as the waiting continues on your 2026 Porsche Targa 4S W/PTS, (Blackolive) exterior.
New arrival next year.

lombmark,

Thanks for dropping by and for your Post.

Wife and I will be making another trip down to Huntsville, Alabama around the middle of October 2025.
Hoping to just maybe see some of those "White-Cotton-Ball" fields this next trip.

This is the 1st and only car my wife Cathy said the following to me.
(1) Terry, stop procrastinating and over-thinking ordering the Porsche GT4 just do it, "Today" that was soon to be 4-years ago come October.
(2) Cathy told me this is the Only Sports car she has liked out of all the Many-many-many I have owned since the Mid 60's.

Cathy and I picking up her Most-Favorite Porsche GT4 in "Racing-Yellow" from PON (Porsche of Nashville) approximately 10-miles from our home in Franklin, TN.

October 19th 2021 at PON in Cool-Springs.

The full crew in the below image.
Left to Right
Robert (G/M at Audi of Nashville), Terry, Cathy, Cody (G/M at Porsche of Nashville), Matt (My salesman great guy).

Current image of Cathy and I a few weeks ago heading to Huntsville, Alabama.

We still are liking the GT4 as much as the 1st day we took delivery !!!

You are just having too much fun with that car! Drive the heck out it. Our Boxster GTS 4.0 just arrived at the dealer today. We are so excited. We're on our 5th Porsche and will have 3 in the fleet as soon as the BGTS is delivered. I'm 64 and thanks to your posts can see there could be many fun years of motoring ahead. I already told my kids not to expect my 911 to have low mileage when I snuff it, or have to surrender the keys.
