The Porsche plan is not a 3rd party insurance policy, it’s an agreement with PCNA. Also, it doesn’t matter whether you reach 20k at the 2 year mark, the required services are the same. The only time these plans will pay out is if you do more than 20k miles per year, maybe.....

However, based on the price list posted above it’s about a wash with what my dealer charges for the major services. I need to get some quoted from a couple Indy shops before I take delivery just to compare but I’m still inclined to just pay for it when the maintenance is done since it’s not really saving me any money.

Published MSRP for the Porsche Scheduled Maintenance Plan (PSMP) for a GT4/Spyder is as follows:
+1 $1295
+2 $2415
+3 $4545
+4 $5370
Note that the first year maintenance is included so +1 covers the 2nd annual/20K service, +2 covers the 2nd and 3rd annual/milage services, and so on.
Note also that PSMPs are not insurance policies or extended warranties. They are meant to cover scheduled maintenance, not repairs that aren't otherwise covered under warranty or aren't covered after the new car warranty expires. The new car warranty doesn't cover scheduled maintenance other than the first year/10K service.
This information is perfect. So at the prices I was quoted for the +1, the dealer is making $200.00 profit.

Clearly then you’re getting the “value” of locking in today’s the hourly rates for the +1. If you can negotiate something at MSRP or close to it, and want Porsche to Service your car, it’s worth considering.

The wheel and tire packages I’ve purchased in the past make sense as insurance against damage on OEM or aftermarket wheels. I had this coverage on my 981 GTS, sold the car, and Porsche sent me back the prorated premiums.

Agree with the community. Smile at finance guy and say no to everything. I just picked mine up Friday and declined everything. Finance guy left room and came back and said they had contest to see who could get most maintenance packages. If we discount the price equivalent amount will you take it. Already agreed on price so I accepted it only reason I got the 2nd maintenance pre paid.

I got the wheel and tire as I’ve had it in the past and it’s been well worth it. Living in downtown of a city with absolute **** roads and having the car as a DD I could justify it. But I think for most as a second car or living in suburbs with better maintained roads it’s probably not worth it

I got the wheel coverage and it covered fixing my rims at least 3 times and replacing 1 or 2 tires.

I owned a 987.1 Cayman S from new for 13 years. All in, I maybe spent 10k on maintenance and repairs.

This includes tires!

Find your self a good independent mechanic and learn how to use your tools. You will appreciate your car more.

I agree, I'm 20 miles from the city and the Carrera Classic wheels on my 7 year old 981 were unscathed.

I did however buy the Autonation "wear item" warranty on the Spyder, it was 2k as I recall and I offered 1,400 and he accepted ... so I left money on the table. I just figured that coming off a PDK, if my 3rd pedal skills were gone, better to let them pay for the clutch.

Not true for Porsche of Annapolis. It was a pain in the *** trying to get them to just do what the Service Manual specifies rather than "their" service packages. I wouldn't be surprised to find more dealers like this.

Anybody have a recommendation on an Indy shop in Dallas. I'm in Arkansas and Dallas will probably be the closest for me to get to.

I used Modern Mercedes on my AMG and they were great to work with.

You had a PCNA Pre Paid Maintenance Program and the dealer was refusing to do the specified service per the SM? That's an easy fix...

If they are "recommending more" you always have the choice to decline.

I got the 2 year pre-paid maintenance because I got a discount and intend to use the Porsche dealer for service during the warranty period. Keep in mind that everything at the dealership is negotiable. Paid MSRP for my car, but try negotiating a discount on the pre-paid. The worst thing they can do is say "no".

I use Charlie Lacy at Innovative Autosports. He's on the North side of Dallas (Carrollton).
