Road Trip - GTS 4.0
We're thinking of driving across Canada next summer (pandemic permitting). Would you have any concerns doing that in a Cayman 4.0? I know something like a Macan would be more comfortable, and I'm 99% sure the cGTS will be nosier inside the cabin than our Golf R, but I can always turn around LOL.
Just wondering if any of you have taken a car like that on a really long road trip. I'm thinking 3 weeks.

A fellow documented a trip from Ottawa to Vancouver in his 981 Boxster GTS a few years ago. It was such a good story that I have been intending to undertake a similar trip.
I love the 2 days 11 hours across the country on the trip planner. Is Verstappen or Leclerc driving?

We haven’t had a “hot” summer in Chicago since like 1995. Instead of hanging a right, and coming back through the US. Make a left and go north. I’m sure the roads will be a lot more twisty and fun.
Else if your going to head back through the US. Make an extra couple of days and hit the Tail of the Dragon.

That drive is one I’ve always wanted to do. Glad to hear you felt the car was comfortable enough.

I just drove Vancouver to Calgary not too long ago, also through Jasper.
Great drive, but that will be followed by flat, straight roads for half the country, so you better have some good podcasts!

I am a bit worried about the “middle” lol. I think by the time we exit Alberta she’d be tired of me saying “just listen to the sound of that engine!”

When the Border reopens I want to do the Calgary run again but come south through Coeur d'Alene to Cannon Beach and do the Pacific route back to Port Angeles. Get a taste of everything over 10 days

I traded in a 2018 Boxster GTS for my new Spyder (which I pick up in a few days), and I had put over 13,000 miles on it. If your concern is about the quality and comfort of the ride, I wouldn't hesitate to take a CGTS on a long trip. As for the sound, it won't wear on you any worse than the 4-cyl GTS did, which was just fine, and you can always tone it down. And, since we live in the northern suburbs of Chicago, I can vouch for the fact that the climate is eminently survivable and driveable -- it's the flatness and straightness of the "prairie" roads that'll get you down. I look forward to hearing all about your trip next year!

You should also check out the thread in the 992 section started by a fellow from Alaska that picked up his car in Atlanta. He and his wife had a pretty interesting adventure.
