+1 your sweat and "other bodily emissions" (from your hands - oils etc) can over time be absorbed by the alacantara ... why I wear driving gloves especially on track...

Never had a problem with the couple other alcantara wheels I've had in my RS3 and my 2 GLC63S AMG Edition 1s. The GT4, I am overly cautious and wear a pair of gloves.

being Scottish of course I have to use a pair of "Jim Clark" driving gloves! - guaranteed to make you go faster!

I've never really had it before but I do like it. It really looks amazing as a headliner.

To me, it feels like scraping your fingernails across a chalkboard, just gives me the *******. I don't mind it for seat inserts, but I do not like the feel of it sliding across my hands when wheeling it. My SS 1LE came with it and I swapped it out for a regular SS leather wrapped wheel.

Smooth, fine leather also feels more premium to be.

I do like alcantara in the interior to break up the all black leather, and I also don't like it on my steering wheel either. I usually drive with my left hand on the steering wheel (also a lefty) and also my hands sweat so my previous steering wheel looked worn on one particular spot vs the rest of the steering wheel. I did not try any alcantara cleaner for it though, so maybe it can be refreshed.

I have it on my steering wheel and I love how it absorbs my sweaty palms, so far it doesn’t look bad but I’m sure it’ll look horrible in another 50k miles. To be fair, the leather will also look super greasy too. I think carbon is best on the steering wheel and shift ****.

Is it just me or Alcántara smells better?

I am not a fan, I much prefer leather. I understand Alcantera is a trademarked brand, and somewhat pricey, but not as much as leather, although Porsche has done a terrific job marketing it as a "premium" product. To me its just the 21st century version of naugahyde. Porsche has now, it seems, abandoned Alcantera for Race-Tex, which is a similar synthetic product but cheaper(although I doubt they have lowered the price). My new GTS 4.0 will have full leather, and neither Alcantera nor Race-Tex.

Same here, I even deleted the A-pillar and roof liner Alcantera option.
Bill is your GTS 4.0 in the country yet?

The @Money2536 and Russian videos improve my perception of Alcantara, as I had had been led to believe that once it got all flat and greasy it was that way forever. Good to know otherwise!

No, build date in January, delivery late Feb. I can still make changes until 11-28. What is used for the roof and a-piller if Alcantera/RaceTex is deleted? I'm considering that, didn't know I could do it until you mentioned it but I found it in the ocnfiguraotr.

Fabric, like the Base and S models. I chose this option, as my car is an ultraseude-free zone

From the confabulator:

In interior colour in conjunction with Black, Agate Grey, Graphite Blue or Espresso. In black with all other colours.
