my thoughts about 718 spyder
new to the forum here. currently have two Ferraris at garage, 458 and FF with a Lotus Evora 400 and Alfa 4c spyder. Used to have a .1 GT3 and .2 GT3 Touring and 981 GT4. I just got my commission number for 718 Spyder with PDK option. Actually super excited about it. I understand that people are lamenting about lack of desire with the new GT4 compared to the last one, but I just wanted to mention that since FCA went public, the direction of Ferrari is very different from what it used to be especially with the new F8, and thus bunch of us are holding onto the last generation of NA engines. Porsche in my eyes still remain partly true to the car enthusiasist, and that should be applauded. Good job, Porsche sans most of its dealerships, except the only one GM I have worked with.

Welcome and nice garage! Why PDK in the spyder? Just curious

Thanks! the traffic at where I live is not conducive to the full enjoyment of rollng my gears, plus given the gearing ratio of birth 981 and 718 are the same, I think reducing 0.5 seconds in 0 to 60 with pdk is not a bad idea at all. Maybe I am getting old, I start to enjoy the dual clutch transmission more. I didn't really enjoy the manual touring too much either.

I was skeptical at first when I sampled the dual clutch cars over a decade ago and didn’t own a PDK variant until 2015 but after living with one for the past 5 years I’ve come to the realization that I enjoy the drive better with the PDK. I certainly enjoy the manuals in the classic sports cars I have or will have in the future but a GT group 982 with a 4L NA flat six, mechanical limited slip with PTV and a GT tuned PDK will be a surgical instrument on my favorite roads. Being able to hit the proverbial quarter marking the apex and being able to give back change will make me smile every time.
