Default i am in

i am new to the site. i just put down my deposit for a November build date. I am old and don't have many cars left in my life time. I never owned a mid engine so i am making that come true with my Gt 4. I also have never had a pdk car which i checked the box on. I am just shy of 65 all my current and other sports cars are or where manuals. I look forward to following the forum. if all goes well i will learn to track this car. This will be a fun car may drive it for long weekend trips so i ordered it a little comfortable. the dealer wanted a premium for a have it your way slot. i refused and got it for list price. i hope i did not get taken advantage of. 2021 gt-4 Miami blue, door handle high gloss, gt-4 logo high gloss, pdk, calipers high gloss, wheels satin black, pdls plus lighting, light design, power folding mirrors, auto dim mirrors rain sensor, adaptive sport seats, heated seats, luggage net, fire extinguisher, interior trim painted body color, MB seatbelts, Bose, apple play, floor mats, car due in January. I am a greatful man!

Congrats! In case you didn't get the memo, 65 is the new 45 so you have plenty of cars left in your lifetime.

1) Welcome to the forum, lots of interesting stuff here.
2) Good for you in standing your ground with the dealer-sounds like you have a very nice build coming, congratulations!
3) I like the idea of you learning how to track the car, always fun to learn something new.
4) I am almost 72 and have a GTS 4.0 headed this way on the ocean, also I am still flying airplanes. 65 is not old.
5) If you had bought a Smart Car then we might be worried about you....
6) Mid engine cars guarantee grins.
7) Looking forward to seeing your GT4 and more posts!

Welcome to the forum and Congratulations on your build! My GT4 is also November's build with a 6 speed manual. Estimated delivery is January 15th. I will pick mine up at PEC Atlanta and drive her home to Jacksonville, FL.
My previous two GT3's were PDK and wanted to get back in the manual mode. Also have had a 2008 Porsche C4S in manual and 2005 BMW M3 in manual. I just turned 51 and not too far behind you.
All the best and good health!

65 is not old. Just do what you can to stay healthy. Why do you see so many "old" people in nice sports cars? If fortunate, this is the time in life when you have both the money and the time to enjoy these toys. I am 54. I have the last college tuition payment (of 4 kids!!) coming due this December. Houses are paid for, retirement is reasonably well funded. It is truly time for me to live for now. Welcome. You will LOVE this car!!

FWIW, I had driven manuals my whole life until my previous 981 Cayman GTS which I owned from 2015 until 2020. That car was PDK. It is brilliant and fast, and fun in its own way, but it definitely doesn't give the visceral satisfaction of a manual. Just FYI.

I'm delighted to learn there's a 60+ Cayman/Boxster Owners Association.

Good luck with a beautiful, and very Miami Blue, GT4.
