Any updates on what the option tire might be? I'm about to put in my order and if they aren't PS4S then it's a hard pass for me too. Based on what I see from Michelin they don't have an N-Spec for the Spyder sizes other than the Cup2

I live in Mumbai and drive around here. We just finished with the rainy season (125 inches of rain in 3 months). The Dunlop Maxx Sports 2 that came with the GT4 were great when roads were dry. extremely high cornering speeds and grips like a leech. in moderately wet roads, the grip is severely compromised. Aquaplanes at the slightest provocation in standing water. I then changed to Michelin PS4S. wet roads drivability is greatly improved. Cornering speeds (IMHO) are around 85% of the Dunlop's. Comfort levels in the city and very high speed driving is improved dramatically. All in all PS4S is great for regular city roads, high speed drives, moderate speed (< 100 mph) corner carving. Only if you track the car, then I feel would you need the DUNLOP's or the CUP 2's. Else PS4S will do fine.

I bought a 2021 Spyder and the dealer convinced me to replace the UHP with HP tires. I am a bit disappointed, in that the car oversteers some. i think i will replace then with UHP and see how it goes. I never have the car in the rain anyway.

My 2021 spyder with HP tire option came with N-Spec PS4s. I strongly prefer this tire over the CUP2s for the northeast everywhere other than the track.

second this. Took delivery yesterday of a 2021 Spyder with summer tires option and it has PS4s on it.

I've had Dunlop's and now PS4S. Both are great, but for road use PS4S extend the cars driving season enough that winters aren't needed.

Can any more folks confirm whether the selecting the summer tires for the Spyder come with the PS4S? I have an order coming in later this year and don't want to see Pirellis on them..in that case I would just roll with the Cup 2s. thanks

I received Michelin PS4S on my Spyder and I believe this is the only option for the HP Summer Tyre.

Cheers,
Harry.

My Spyder has the Dunlop Sport Maxx Race 2 N1 (Porsche spec) tires, and at least in 15 degree Celsius weather with moderate rain, the tires did great. No hydroplaning at highway speeds, and great grip when I did some test braking. I’ve yet to try them in cooler temperatures (below 10 degrees Celsius). Michelin PS4S will undoubtedly be better in cooler/wetter conditions, but at least in the moderate conditions I tried the Dunlops were fine.

The Dunlop tires on my Spyder feel notably grippier on dry pavement than the PS4S on my old Boxster. They grip a little harder in braking, and they grip tenaciously in intense cornering that would have made the PS4S on my old Boxster break loose.

At least with my experience so far, the UHP Dunlop’s have been a significant performance upgrade over Michelin PS4S, and they’re fine at least in moderate rain and 15 degree Celsius weather.

I expect them to be awful at 5 degrees Celsius, but I haven’t tried as it hasn’t yet gotten that cold in Southern Ontario.

The Michelin Pilot Super Sports and Michelin Pilot Sport 4S I’ve had on previous cars would both have lost grip in that situation.

The Dunlops would probably grip better when warmed up, but at least in cornering they seem to do better than PS4S at moderate ambient temperatures.

With that said, if you intend to drive it with the same tires below 10 degrees Celsius, you’re probably better off with PS4S. They will not last 15K miles either. Maybe half that.
This is exactly my same experience with the Dunlop's that came on my Spyder, simply an incredible tire for 3 seasons of the year (where I live), for the other season I have UHP RE980AS tires because life is too short not to be driving at every opportunity!

Thanks a bunch. That helps as I was just told by my SA that my order has locked and tire cannot change lol

I picked up my car from PECLA on 5/28 and it did come with PS4 in N0 spec. The delivery specialist said I lucked out on the tires because I got the Michelin tires. He alluded to the tire being a totally random process because in saying that I lucked out, he mentioned that he's seen other options show up in when selecting the HP tire choice. I can't recall which brand he said he's seen but I recall us making quick comments about being glad I got the PS4 tires.

I received an email confirmation from Porsche Australia that PS4S is the only option, perhaps it is different in the USA?

Cheers,
Harry.

After running the Tail of the Dragon a few times.
No grip issues with my PS4S tires on my Spyder.

I'm new to NW SC, located at the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, and my Spyder isn't due in until late October. I'm leaning towards "rolling the dice" for HP summer tires rather than the standard SC2 UHP summer tires, due to the colder temps and increased chances of rain in this area. I too am worried that I'll end up with PZeros, but I think it's a chance I'll have to take. Although I really like the idea of the SC2s, I'm reassessing the downsides of trying to live with that tire in this climate. My SA told me exactly the same thing as halfmonkey has already noted above - it's a bit of a crapshoot - whatever Porsche has available when the car is rolling down the line is what will get installed. We have no choice or say in the matter....

For those that are interested, when I found out my VIN and the ship that the car was going to be traveling on, there is a line item on the screen shot that your SA should have access to that shows Tyre Number. Mine showed F3AK018X. Don't know exactly how to interpret that sequence but my car showed up with Michelin N0 spec PS4 so maybe when you get your VIN and traveling ship name, ask your SA to see if it matches my sequence.
