Long Term Storage
Well, I had a bit of bad news yesterday. Turns out that we didn't get the permit to build the garage that's supposed to house my Cayman GTS 4.0 when it arrives in December. We're going to have to apply for a zoning adjustment, and that will push the build back to spring of next year. I will need an off-site location to house the car for 4-5 months I would guess. Not how I'd like things to go. So what I'm wondering is this...
What are the most important things to do when putting a car into long term storage. I would hope that I'll be able to access the vehicle semi-regularly, but there will be one stretch while I'm away for 6-7 weeks. What are the things I need to do to take gentle care of this baby until it's finally time to bring her home?

That short a time is no big deal, particularly if you will have access to it and be able to drive it once in a while. You might put it on a battery tender if it's gonna sit for more than 30 days, but that's about it. More important is finding the right storage location that will keep the car in good stead. And be sure to put it away clean.
I stored multiple cars like this for years.

Thanks FASTRKMAN for this check list there is a lot of things on it that I never did and will do from now on. The toughest will be to resist the urge to start the car every week or 2!

All good recommendations from Porsche. Most critical is battery maintainer, and keep hood propped (not fully latched) in case there is a charging issue.
Not sure why you would need to prop wiper blades off of glass?

Air up the tires, top up gas, and battery tender.
I try to take it out once a month if possible.
That’s all I did for mine. Unheated garage.

Last year I washed, filled up with gas, overinflated tires, put on battery maintainer and covered.
I will probably do the oil change prior to storage this year, along with using fuel stabilizer and maybe add damp rid into that.
