I'm going to assume the cover is foreshadowing the result.

6 speed GT4 versus the Z51 package is a decent win given the HP differential.
Will the GT4 RS rival the Z06?
Lucky are the writers who get to track test them.

Read the article.
TL;DR - Corvette wins by the numbers and value. Corvette loses on communicative steering & chassis, interior, and minor quality stuff. GT4 is all around just a perfect car for C&D

Just got it. Great article (biased). Frankly I was surprised at the GT4's track performance vs the Corvette. You can make up a ton of time on straightaways with in big HP cars like the Corvette. I agree with their comments on the direction of new(er) 911's.

The power to weight ratios are pretty close. It’s just the gearing that holds the GT4 back a bit. In their last test, C&D got a quarter mile trap speed of 122 mph for a C8, and 120 mph for a manual GT4. On other 718 models, the PDK trap speeds have been 2 mph higher than the 6 speed manual, and so a PDK GT4 should have the same quarter mile trap speed as a C8 Z51.

The 0-60 times of the C8 are great due to ultra short gearing coupled with a 911-like 60:40 rear biased weight distribution. However, if the GT4 PDK gets GT3-like gearing, the 0-60 time difference would also be greatly diminished.

Very interesting thanks for the great analysis and information.

Absolute best GT4 PDK 0-60 time is going to be 3.7-3.8 seconds.

Official numbers sure, but C&D already did 0-60 in 3.7 seconds with the manual, and I'm expecting them to save 0.5 seconds if they give it GT3-like gearing, 0.4 seconds if they give it standard 718 PDK gearing. I would be shocked if it needs more than 3.3 seconds 0-60 in magazine testing, more likely 3.2 seconds.

This is why I always say that comparing cars that are not tested back to back is quite flawed. This is also why I really like genuine comparison tests. Thanks for posting that.

The Corvette starts at 60K. Even a well-optioned 3LT only puts you in the 80s. That leaves a pretty big price gap to a GT4.
