Default GT4/Spyder Driving Easy, low RPM = high oil temp, aggressive high RPM = low oil temp

I suppose this is an effort to increase fuel efficiency In the 718 Spyder and GT4, but i dislike not having manual control over the 3rd radiator as I did in my 981 Spyder.

As i have been varying the RPMs during break-in, I noticed that when taking it easy in 5th or 6th gear, minimal throttle, basically flat terrain, my 718 Spyder engine oil temps are at their highest. As soon as I start increasing the RPMs and driving the car hard, the engine oil temps drop a good 20-25 degrees F.

i wonder if there is anyway to keep the 3rd radiator open at all times.

There’s a long and active thread about this: https://rennlist.com/forums/718-gts-...-radiator.html

On the 981 GT4, enabling auto blip (labelled sport button) would force cooler engine temperatures. Nobody has reported in that thread if that’s the case or not on the newer cars, despite multiple people asking.

i know, i started that thread. But it was about generally higher engine oil temps in these cars

There is no Sport button in the 718 Spyder/GT4. Autoblip doesn’t appear to do anything other than auto blip.

I think it’s a good way to get to high oil temp to “burn” moisture if there’s any. Good feature.
