Default 718 Spyder Review - The Little Bastard

I thoroughly enjoyed this review. Well written by someone who fully understands what car is all about iMHO.

https://www.businessinsider.com/pors...otos-2020-7#-2

“Heck, I'm a 911 fella through and through. Never have I fallen in line for the Boxsters and Caymans, although I've had my fun with the midmounted turbo fours. I usually like less weight and power, to max out the feathery nature of a proper two-seater.

But the 2020 718 Spyder rearranged my consciousness, like something quick and compelling moving through space and time. This is a car that you dream about after the driving is done, then dream anew when the driving resumes, and before you know it, the driving and dreaming are the same thing.”

Thanks for posting, he writes well, and makes it an interesting read vs. other editors that just parrot a lot of the same stuff. However, he clearly hasn't done a track day or understands the benefits of aero or "stiffer structure" etc. as he dumps on the GT4, but agree that open top goodness is of course special.

While he seems to know about cars, he isn't up on the stats of the Spyder as he describes it (...remove top permanently and knock it down to 3500 pounds...???) what the hell does he think he is reviewing, a convertible Camaro?

I would Give him the benefit of the doubt - perhaps a typo.

Ok, I wanted to hate this guy just because the article is in Business Insider rater than in a car magazine. But I couldn't. That was well written. He was talking facetiously about tearing the top off. It's obvious that he knows that it isn't intended to be removable. Thanks for posting that.
