Default Experience with silver fabric door pulls

I'm about to order a 718 GT4 with silver fabric door pulls. One thing that worries me is that they will show dirt. For those who have, or have had, them, what is your experience?

God bless,
TT

I think it will show dirt and grime over time. We have an suv with tan color interior and over time, there is some dirty mark where I normally grab the seat belt so I would expect over time the same will happen to any colored seatbelt. Darker seatbelt will of course hide it better than light colored seatbelts. You can always use gloves and have an extra pair for the passenger in the car ready to go.

I’ve read that the door pulls should be easy to replace with black ones from Suncoast. Frustrating that the only way to get deviated chalk stitching in the GTS is by ordering the bloated GTS interior package which also comes with chalk seat belts.

I would still go for it if that is the interior color you want. You can always try to clean it when it gets dirty. Worse case, replace it if cleaning fails.

I've had lizard, orange, and now silver door pulls on my cars and all are fine and look great with normal use. So long as you don't have grubby fingers. I'd absolutely get them in silver if that's the stitching you have.

Seems like an OCD concern. You only touch the door pulls once per drive. Unless you constantly eat greasy fries or chocolate, I can’t imagine how you’d get them dirty. I realize that with covid, many of us are currently not showering every day, but I hope you are at least washing your hands frequently. :-)

I have a feeling that the people concerned about light colored contact surfaces are talking about 10yr time frames, while those dismissing these concerns are talking 10 months. I could be wrong.

Why not just make it part of your car cleaning routine? Get a toothbrush, give them a little scrub once per year and you’re good until next year. If the car is a daily driver then up the frequency.

I plan on keeping my Spyder forever. I typically keep cars at least 8 years, usually longer. And my cars are in showroom condition inside and out no matter how long I keep them. I had an Alfa GTV6 for 17 years (still miss that car). I had people ask me if it was new when it was 15 years old. When I sold it, the buyer told me that he had been searching throughout the country for one for a couple of years. When he saw mine, he said he was convinced mine was the cleanest in existence. It had 117k miles on it but literally looked new inside and out. It had white Alfa script in the original black floor mats. There wasn’t a stain on them, and the white was still bright. Before the buyer saw the car in person, he said he thought that I must have faked the photos. Bottom line is that I’m a clean freak, and I’m not worried about the silver pulls.

I have had two cars for a total of 4 years with silver door straps. No problem with them showing dirt, but I am very particular about cleanliness.

This says more about your exceptional level of care than about how light colored contact surfaces fare under normal care. I've somehow survived without ever washing or brushing seat belts, door pulls, or white lettering and I don't intend to start doing them 2x/year now.

Fair point. But seat belts? They only touch your clothes, unless you drive naked. How could they get dirty? I guess if you crashed really badly, they could get stained by blood.

My car will have silver door pulls, seat belts, and stitching. In 2030, I’ll let you know how they are doing. Then I’ll give you an update in 2040.( I suspect that in 2040, you’ll still be on the fence between a GTS or Spyder. Sorry! Couldn’t resist!)

Lol, wasn't aware that my GTS vs Spyder vs 987 and manual vs auto top sagas had such a wide following. I'm humbled...
