I have to say never been a fan of any other colour for a convertible cloth roof other than black, but this spec with red works really well IMHO. . Beautiful car.

I think red *only* works with a neutral exterior color like silver, black or white...

while I agree with his comments about manual transmission and 'real' buttons - sadly I think the generations who (still) want that are all (and hopefully slowly) dying off... (and I include myself in that category)

Hey, I’m a millennial who likes buttons and simplicity over touch screens and complexity. Admittedly, most people I know who are around my age seem to not care about cars in general, and would prefer autonomous mobility appliances as a service with only a touchscreen and no steering wheel.

Of course the roof is a pita in the Uk. As a former resident and frequent visitor (pre-Covid), it’s no place for a convertible IMHO (unless you are driving it down to the continent.) The rain gauges don’t get much rest. After 2 weeks and 1500 km, I’d love to tell you what it’s like to drive with roof on, but I have no idea.

I’m with you as a “millennial”/mid-80s baby. But we could be the “old school” black sheep who prefer the basics but done extremely well. I’ve mentioned it here before, but one of the main reasons I chose a 718 Spyder over a 992 911 is the lack of buttons and an interior that prioritizes function over form.

Shame they only offer the red top with the Spyder classic interior. I think a lot of people would spec it.

Wait, so this is not a Boxster any more but a 718 Spyder? Is this the first non-Boxster Spyder? Lol...

Yeah, the 718 Spyder is not a Boxster. The 987 was a Boxster Spyder, 981 was called Boxster Spyder but just had Spyder written on it, and the 718 generation dropped Boxster altogether from the name. Similar to how the 991.2 Speedater is just a 911 Speedster, not a 911 Carrera Speedster.

CEO of Porsche Cars Canada calls it Boxter Spyder.

Thanks for your diligence in posting reviews, I enjoy them during my waiting period. October 2nd to the body shop Spyder in CWM, with a red top.

I like buttons. Especially steering wheel buttons for audio (heated MF wheel is a big selling point to me on the spyder) as I am a bit ADHD changing track/station and volume. Honestly, the meme about getting in and hitting exhaust, suspension, autoblip, (and FAL on cars that have it) is really quite true. If they were on the steering wheel it would be easier. I wish there was a present so they would come on when you start the car. I don’t care so much about exhaust or suspension, but defaulting on autoblip would be really nice as sometimes I forget.

The one big issue I have with the red interior is it’s really three tone (red/silver/black alcantara) and you can’t option away the silver trim which looks ok with GT Silver, but is a bit too much for me.
