Intro - 991.2 GT3RS to 718 Spyder - am I crazy?

I just did the EXACT same thing and almost the same build on my Spyder. 991.2 RS is being picked up tomorrow. No one wants to go in the RS with buckets and i don't track it like i did my 997 GT3. Will see how the 992 GT looks in a few years and decide then if i want to get back into one. RS is amazing though i am sure i will miss it.

Both cars are the pinnacle of mutually exclusive applications. An open air roadster vs a focussed track car - and while the cars have some overlap, neither can do what the other does best. It’s a very complimentary duality so if you enjoy the Spyder, my bet is you just exposed the thin edge of the wedge to an extra toy in the garage... not sure your better half will appreciate the financials of where this well travelled road ultimately leads

Did you spec your Spyder with buckets? For me the buckets are ok as I'm a small framed guy but they certainly aren't fun for the passenger. As you know, there's been a lot of debate about the Spyder "must have buckets". My car is spec'd with 18 ways and I won't be tracking this car. I'll will be using it mainly for winding country road driving where I live. I guess because of the sofas the car is already worthless!

Buckets (if they fit) are optimal for winding backroads. They're too much for the street (traffic) and not enough for the track (no halo/head protection).

I absolutely agree with you about the RS and Spyder combo. I have found the to be completely different even though both are manual.

I wasn’t get out to the track enough and it’s honestly too fast for the street, even with our amazing California mountain roads. I’ll probably end up with a 992 GT3 eventually, and will miss the 991.2 RS. It’s probably the best all around sports car made today.

I specified the 18 way, heated for the buttons. i am not convinced Sofas will affect resale in this car. there will always be someone who wants the comfort

Andrew, I too was ify about the 18 ways... no issue after picking it up today. OMG, after having buckets in the last 4 GT cars I had forgotten how good the "sofas" are. I drove windy roads the 160 miles home and I love the seats, and the car! All I can tell you is screw the resale, you're going to love this car! I'm putting together another thread where I'll post a few pics and share my initial thoughts about the car... especially jumping from an RS to a Spyder.
