That much better than what?

If you like PDK get PDK, if you like MT get a MT. There is no better, unless stoplight racing is important to you. There is just preference.

I traded my 981 Spyder in for my 718 Spyder and the difference was immediately noticeable. The 4.0 torque curve significantly mitigates the issues with the long gearing . Whereas, the previous 3.8 torque curve, exacerbated the weakness of the long gearing.

Frankly i think it was the dips in that torque curve on the 3.8, where the engine almost seemed to languish in the mid band RPMs that was more of an issue than the long gearing itself. Unfortunately many reviewers are lemmings parroting that first review bashing the long gearing.

No doubt the 981 suffered with this gearing more than the 718.

Im still regearing mine tho

I don’t have experience with the 3.8 as a reference but I find the 4.0 works great and gear ratios are fine.

Of course, I might get bored and still shorten the splits as I think tight splits is a very fun driving experience (lots of shifting but might not be best for lap times).
