GT4 Steering Wheel vs. Spyder

I know this is such a minor thing, but I really like the little stripe on the GT4 steering wheel at the 12 o'clock position. My spyder should arrive in about 6 weeks - wish it had it. Nothing i can do now about it. Anyone know why there is a difference?

Because it’s porsche. Lol. The “stripe” is a “GT” car thing and “GT” cars don’t have heated multifunction, but the spyder does .... You can buy the wheel and swap it in. The wheels are modular and you can move various parts around to get what you want (I built a non-heated/MF wood wheel with black no nut inserts and a black triangle), just don’t look at how much the GT wheel costs .... or if you really want to be shocked look at how much it costs CXX to get that stripe in another color.
I should add I know way too much about modern Porsche steering wheels due to this project. I asked to CXX a wood wheel and was told “nein” because it was heated and MF and GT cars did not have that. So I just built my own.

+1 - Suncoast has them although they are crazy expensive!

tape is a cheap way of getting the colored stripe. Just replace when old/damaged. Plus you can change color as often as you like.

I've contemplated using (2) layers of tape...first layer "non-stick" side down, then the 2nd layer sticky side down on top of first, so no adhesive is touching the Alcantara.

As for can't doing anything about it, it is only money and time, with deep packets you can have just about whatever you want!

The best answer above is from @evilfij because that is how Porsche does things!

If you have a leather wheel and you are will to commit to permanence, an acrylic leather paint, done right, will look perfect and OEM. It's not very hard to do. I changed the color of some panels on my moto race leathers years ago and it looked perfect and held up great.

So, just to be clear, the spyder wheel does not have the stitching which is in the shape of the center stripe. I agree that, if you actually want a stripe at the top of the wheel, whether you have the stitched stripe or not, a piece of tape is the most cost effective way to go about getting it. I find the smaller and thicker wheel on the GT cars (and spyder) to be less comfortable than the bigger and thinner base wheel (or the wood or carbon fiber wheel).
