A car is a lot more than its straight line acceleration, Porsche especially so. That said does anyone who's put over 1000 miles on the clock wish their GT4/Spyder wish it had more straight line acceleration? Thanks.

I don't exactly meet your criteria because my GT4 arrives next Tuesday, but I can tell you this. I had a 16 Cayman GTS and never had the feeling that I needed more acceleration in a straight line. I think the main reason that any Cayman-derived car doesn't feel like it needs more acceleration is that you sit so low that the perception of acceleration is exaggerated. The road comes at you fast if you are only sitting a couple inches above it. I also had an 18 Turbo, and while the acceleration in that car was immense and brutal, it was a different feeling sitting up higher and the car being larger and heavier - you definitely felt like you were being pushed (a lot) harder in the back, but with sitting up higher in being in a bigger space, the world did not seem to come at you that much faster through the windshield.
The answer is no and I find myself going faster than I should so it’s probably good it doesn’t. I think the power is perfect for the chassis. One thing I’ve noticed, it’s so linear and steady it doesn’t feel that fast but every time you look at the speedo you are surprised. I had a zl1 1le and I hated the car because you could never get the power to the ground unless you were on a track in a higher gear. This is not like that at all.

Broke 800 miles just yesterday: no. I wish I had more places to use the straight line acceleration it already has.
If I wanted more acceleration, I'd also be wanting a PDK to make it faster and be able to use that acceleration better. But this car as it is I don't think needs any more.

Who wouldn't want more acceleration in almost anything? I have an F90 M5 pushing out around 650hp that does 0-60 in three seconds flat and I'd love for it to have even faster acceleration. That's not what these cars are about so it's kind of a meaningless question.
Your M5 is a pig that would get smoked by a 20 year old sport bike so no it's not.
Mmmm, butthurt much? 'No, it's not' what?
Maybe you should check some facts before you post stupid comments like this. The pig M5C laps Hockenheim GP three seconds faster than the 981 GT4 and only 3/10ths off the time of the 718 GT4... So anything that would smoke an M5 would also smoke a GT4. And as someone who's owned over 15 sport bikes over the past 30 years, I can tell you the M5 isn't far off even the fastest of them (my CBR1000RR and/or RSV4R).

No sedan looks good, but at least with the F90 they reversed the awful styling of the prior two generations and brought a little E39 DNA back into the design. It was short lived though, as the mid cycle facelift is moving it back toward the current BMW clown car styling. Shame. BMW once made some really cool sedans, at least as cool as a sedan could be. The best I can say about the F90 styling is that it's subtly muscular. Many people wouldn't even know it was an M car, which is how I like it. Car guys know what it is, but to everyone else it's just another sedan. It's nutty fast for such a hefty beast.
FWIW - M5 does the "Ebola" track on Grand Tour in exact same time as GT3RS...I think it was 1.20.x Every track is different, but the M5 is not a slow car, lol. and sadly agree that this might be the last good looking BMW for some time to come...the new grill designs are just awful.

Agree that "almost" no sedans look good... that's why I got an E63 wagon in 2014
These big german V8 machines are quite impressive for their size/volume/weight. Mine was pushing between 650-675 HP. With AWD the lunches were brutal. I only wished it had a proper dual clutch instead of the MCT... I had a bit of track fun with it but it was not feeling at home. Cant wait to get my GT4 (first real "track focused" car). I had a GT350 which was pretty good on the track but still a bit on the heavy side... but oh boy what a soundtrack!
Good question neil.yoshi. I too appreciated the responses. Archimedes, you opened up the reply to which you received ref: "meaningless question". Not taking sides here as both of you fired pot shots, but expect responses as such when you toss out your (frequent opinions) without care to how they'll be received.

Why are you eating in the car? Always Rule #1...no eating in the car.
