Thanks!

I thought this was a subtle mod, out in the public no one seems to notice... I like to do things so they look as close to OEM looking as possible and above all it has to look good! Even though you can remove the emblems, as far as I know these are only available in chrome so if you want a different colour you have to do it yourself, be aware they are fairly expensive at $165 each: Spyder Side Emblem : Suncoast Porsche Parts & Accessories (suncoastparts.com)

Remembering that I want to be able to return them to stock, I needed a process that could be done in place, paint is an option but messy and the over spray can be bad, add to this adhesion can be a problem so I found new product (at the time) that would satisfy all requirements, OEM look, safe and clean installation, cost effective, easily redone if needed, and can be returned to OEM easily, HyperDip Shadow Black, specifically made for emblems. HyperDip® Emblem & Badges Kit – DipYourCar.com

I followed the recommended process to the letter and after 6 coats I figured the emblems were coated well enough, I was careful to follow these instructions and the results turned out perfect as you have seen.

I did these last July and they look pretty much the same as when they were first done, no lifting or tears and I wash my Spyder a lot, probably on average weekly. TBH I thought about just using a regular paint degreaser but decided that as I had to order the HyperDip I would spring for a spray bottle of Pre-Dip cleaner, I still have pretty much a full bottle of it and what feels like 3/4 of a spray can of HD Shadow Black, I never even touched the second can, So I have supplies to do these again or other things as well.

If you have any questions let me know!

Yes. I ordered the car without the rear badging, and the dealer supplied me with the "Spyder" portion that I applied after delivery. If I had to do it again, I would order the "Spyder" badge that was used on the 981 Spyder, as I think it is a little larger and would fit the area better.

Thank you @West Coast , that’s sounds really easy. First time I saw black side emblems was on some Speedsters, and I thought that gave them a cleaner look. I will give that a try. Appreciate it!

Did you need to remove the emblems to apply the coating?

Plastic marks up easily and those are plastic letters attached to a plastic panel, one of the major reasons I chose this route: no removal is necessary or recommended!

Here are a few pictures, getting ready to start, part way through the multiple light coats and just before removing the excess HyperDip film.

Even with a removable paint I prefer minimal clean up.

This is around 3 coats.

Cured and ready to remove excess HyperDip

After these posts, I decided I wanted to replace the smaller "Spyder" emblem on my car with the larger version. I ordered the 981 version from Suncoast, and when it arrived.... it was the same size as the one on my car. I believe the correct / larger version is from the 987 Spyder. That logo is p/n 98755923903. I ordered this from Suncoast and should have it next week. Plus, this version is only $75!

What is on your car now? The Spyder section from the 718 Spyder badge that came on the car from the factory?

I believe I have the actual 981 badge. That's what I asked my dealer for at delivery, and I'm pretty sure I remember the p/n on the packaging starting with 981. (They gave me the badge, but I installed it.) But, after seeing other photos with the larger "Spyder" badge, and seeing everyone mention the 981 version, I assumed I got the wrong one. So, I just ordered the 981 version, and when it arrived, it was the same one that's on my car. The larger version that everyone seems to like better is actually from the 987 Spyder, and the part number starts with "987".

You got a better pic. More car and less factory.

I went all in on the interior.
