Default GT4 seat weights

Hi all,

Just joined Rennlist - happy to be here!

I have an order for a 718 GT4 and only have a few days to lock-in the options (spec’ed with dealer in early March).

I am still wondering about seats options - currently I have optioned the base 2way sport seats.

My question is this: does anyone know the exact weight of both the 2way and 18way vs the Buckets?

Firstly, I generally chose a more road biased build, but tried to keep weight lowish, including PCCB. My aim was to keep the car as light as I could while comfortable ‘enough’ for longer road trips (I intend to drive this car and keep it for many years).

Secondly, I previously owned a 981 Boxster S, with optional sport seats but NOT the 18 way (just the 2way). I found them perfect and understand they have the lowest driving position of all theee options. It used to annoy the crap out of me as soon as I got the perfect driving position and then someone at garage or elsewhere moved the seats. I also tried the buckets in a GT3 and although they Feel amazing in terms of handling, they destroyed my lower back in 2 mins (anyone know of solutions for that please let me know)!

I just can’t seem to get exact weights for the 3 options s so I can make sense of the weight saving of each vs the rest of the build.

Any help would be appreciated - will also be taking the car to Sharkworks for re-gearing, if they offer that for the 718 GT4 going forward.

Cheers!

@GT4MF Welcome, no answers for you but curious as to your findings... FWIW I am going with LWBS and PCCB in part to get as light a car as possible.

Thanks Westcoast! Really hope somebody has these answers. I tried my dealer but I didn’t get any useful feedback..

Rennlist, I’m counting on you!

Ps Shame we don’t get the option of the intermediary buckets as they also have heating!

There's a 981 GT4 forum that has this information;
18 way: 128.0 lbs
4 way: 97.2 lbs
LWB: 73 lbs (https://rennlist.com/forums/gt4/8814...l#post12417298)

Perfect, thank you. So it’s a considerable difference going from one to the other. But the 2way may be worth the increase for extra comfort.

i also believe the 18way don’t have a setting to save the position, so would be equally annoying as 2 way in that regard.

the LWB are so cool - if I could only get some lower back support I would option them in a second.

Has anyone tried adjusting the position? Tilt and/or adding support?

Are you looking for lumbar support? If yes then this might be an option? (scroll to bottom of page)

Thanks for the measurement
17.88kg is about 39lb, which is the same as Sport Bucket seat (folding bucket)

All - have any swapped seats after delivery e.g. optioned the 2way and some time after delivery, decided to swap them for the LWB?

I may end up going down this route, as I need to try out some of the solutions for lower back support in person I think. Too nervous about ordering a seat which I won’t be able to sit in for more then a few miles lol

I've had the standard seats, 18 ways and buckets. Not a fan of the 18 ways. I had no issues with the standard seats.

If you want to keep the car on the lighter side you might consider:
Standard seats, brakes and add Forgeline wheels, Anitgravity battery and Dundon headers. Should be lighter than the PCCB/LWBs combo, quicker and keep around $4000 in your pocket. If you end up needing a track seat later you coul do it for under $1000.

The above is what I would do.
