I replaced mine once on my 981 Spyder... as mentioned, pretty easy to do. I think the 718 will be even easier as it’s three pieces now? I’m going to buy a spare once they are available stateside.

I never scraped the lip on my 981S. The Spyder sits a little more than an inch lower. I don't know how much difference that will make. My neighbor has a 992 C4. He scraped the lip the first week he had it. I replaced it for him (I have a lift, and he's mechanically challenged). It was as simple as could be. 4 torx screws and it pulls right out. New one popped right in. I think the lips are designed as "wearable" items. I'm sure it will be the same on the Spyder/GT4

Yeah, I get that. I'm saying the 981 part is small, the 718 part is larger and probably more expensive. I don't see a part price yet but the design looks similar to the GT2rs which I think is the closest corollary atm until we see some part pricing for the new car.

Not only do we have plenty here in Belgium, in many situations, these are not executed by the book. For example, the road surface the last couple of feet before can go somewhat deeper, maybe like an inch, but you get what the problem is...

Nevertheless, going over these with the Spyder has been no problem in the 2 weeks since I drive it. I just take care and slow down slightly more than in the base 981 I had for 5 years. The real problem is exiting driveways! Especially if there's a gutter...

I think the 718 spoiler is narrower, but deeper than the 981. More a shell though. IMHO, You can’t compare GT2RS parts to a car that is a third of the price. Also the GT2RS lip is all one piece where the GT4/Spyder is three. You can also see the center sub structure is replaceable too, which is nice... where the 981 you would have to replace the whole bumper. You can see how it works better in this pic:

For the 718 Spyder and 991.2 GT3 and GT2 RS
1- Not every drive way or speed bump is a hassle. You will be able to cross plenty with no worries, on the steep one it is helpful to steer the car so it approaches the bump at an angle.
2- you are bound to do some scrapping but most of it wont show because it normally happens at the bottom side mostly (even with front axel lift on 911 s you are bound to do a bit of scraping. I would say the spyder is like the GT2 with the axel lifted)
3- No cracks or breaking off for me (generally careful with the speed)
4- no
5- tried it on 911 s (you will survive and will be able to see, but there is a wing in the way). I think you need to try that for yourself to find out for sure

Wouldn't that just protect the consumable plastic skid plate itself? And even further reduce clearance?

Things are getting a little more difficult these days. My 6GT3 chin spoiler was protected by using a black door protector edge strip. Cut to length and supper easy to install.

Exactly... it was designed to be replaceable.
You are just reducing your ground clearance.
