My dealer received a Spyder allocation so I placed my order. Looking forward to May
See ORDER SHEET in the post below.
I got an order number and place a deposit. I decided to go with GT Silver over the Classic “red” interior. As nice as the black interior with silver stitching is on my current 981 Spyder, I wanted to change it up a bit. I wish Porsche offered a tan option, then I would have likely gone with gentian blue or guards red.
I also debated waiting for PDK, but I’ve been loving the 6 speed in my Spyder, tall gears and all. I test drove a Cayman GTS with PDK to refresh myself on the PDK in a midengine setup and I just wasn’t feeling it. Paddles ain’t my thing. There was little lag but there was no great push you back in your seats torque either. Frankly my Spyder can jolt me more. I will say that the 718 Cayman exhaust note wasn’t terrible. It wasn’t flat 6 Porsche, but it sounded decent for turbo 4. Bottom line the 6 speed is more engaging and frankly, I think more inline with the ethos of the car.
I know Boxster can still be a dirty word to some Porschefiles that thumb there nose at any production model not a 911, but I’m telling you, at one third the price of the Speedster, the 718 Spyder like 981 Spyder, may go down as one of the biggest Porsches bargains ever.
Hey it’s all subjective. Afaic, red and tan looks beautiful and is a classic for a reason. And a classic on arguably some of the most beautiful cars ever built. Blue and red interior looks like a clown car or the Spider-Man Spyder to me.
if I was going with Gentian Blue, I’d grab the PCCBs and probably do this combo.

Isn't it actually a 718 Spyder and no longer a Boxster Spyder?. Also, a Boxster is not a dirty word at all and I think you may have the wrong impression of 911 guys. Many of us have both a 911 and a Boxster. They are all fantastic cars and I prefer driving my Boxster over my 911.

Hey I agree with you. There are many 911 enthusiasts and owners who like Boxsters. I’ve owned 911s too. Still, there are some who view Boxsters with subtle contempt as a less than Porsche or a Porsche more suited for boulevard cruisers. Having bought the first iteration of Boxster back in 98, I can say that it’s far more neutral handling was a welcome change to the white knuckle on throttle cornering of my 84 Targa Carrera. But nostalgia has a way of making everything past look rose colored.
