Question to California residents - does anyone managed to get [7 characters + 1 space] or [6 characters + 2 half spaces] recently? I know it was possible using the old ordering tool, but nowadays it only offers 7 character boxes...
I tried mailing the REG 17 form, but they just ignored my space and placed it at the end instead of in the middle

 

a couple of years ago i concluded that they offered the full space and half space just to mess with you. on my plate, and many others that i’ve seen, it’s quite obvious that there’s a human who doesn’t give a crap that does the layout. good luck.

 

Well my state denied "FPDK" apparently they took it to mean "F the Police Dept". Which I guess I can see now that they mention it. So I had to take my title/paperwork back in and have the BMV reissue another plate. Waiting game begins again, 60 days after I paid for the car and still no plates "4LFLT6" should pass unless that too means something wild I haven't thought about

 

Well that's too bad! In WI there's a section to explain the meaning. Mine stands for Ferdinand Porsche and then my initials

 

yeah, bummer, the dealer filled out my stuff for me before they transferred the title so they must not have put in there, and I don’t feel like going through the appeal process with the registrar.

 

Drilling a hole for the tow strap is brilliant. It’s a pain to have to take the plate on and off for that.
