718 cayman s manual - sport chrono advantage?

Yup, I totally agree. Bad news. Before I purchased my 718 S I knew from watching some YouTube vids that you couldn't disable rev matching in both SPORT modes (Smoking Tire, etc) but I hoped that it wouldn't bum me out. Well.. it kinda does...but.. progress, ya? Meh. Coming from the 7 speed S-Tronic on my Audi S5, I actually loved the rev matching in that car.. but going back to MT.. you miss the manual blips. I actually specc'd the Sport Chrono thinking I would like it, but it does take away a bit of nostalgia.

It's a double edged sword in that I personally like rev matching when tracking my car so that I can focus more on lines, etc. (newb here), but don't even want the option elsewhere since it absolutely removes a necessary part of engagement. Auto rev matching just feels like rowing gears for the sake of it - versus opting into the complete experience of a MT.
I'll fully admit when the rev match option is there, I use it (hence why I don't even want the option to turn on/off). I'd rather not have it at all and force myself to learn heel/toe without using the excuse of "this does it better than I can do, so I'll use it." What I've learned is that I need to fully buy into whatever transmission I end up choosing. MT w/ no sport chrono or PDK. No in between.

Thanks for the videos. Informative. I feel your pain! If you feel strongly against rev-matching, you may have to just stick to Normal mode. You will lose performance-oriented setup parameters. It sucks indeed! Hopefully, upcoming GTS would remedy this situation. I am actually pinning my hope that the Spyder will relegate the rev-match to Sport Plus as in 981. If not, it will be a deal breaker for me.
Reno 911:
I totally understand that the auto rev-matching helps one in track conditions. One might try to strike a balance. What is appalling is that they had it right in 981. With 982, they messed it up. I wonder for the street driving, how satisfying it would be, in terms of driving dynamics, without Sport Chrono. Back to basics. One could try to replicate suspension/chassis tweaks without the handicap.

So happy to be a dumbass!
***UPDATE***
I'm a dumbass! You CAN disable auto rev-matching if you turn off PSM.
When I was clicking the PSM button, and the red light lit up.. I assumed that PSM was off... Nope. With Sport Chrono, pushing the PSM button activates PSM Sport mode. In PSM Sport mode, you still get throttle blips. You have to press and HOLD the PSM button for 2 full seconds to turn it off completely. When PSM is off completely... no more blips.
PSM Sport mode from the manual: In PSM Sport mode, the support provided by PSM is restricted in critical driving situations outside the ABS control range.
Always have PSM Sport switched off during "normal" driving operation.
I'll have to re-do my videos to show this correctly. I've only had the car 3 weeks so I'm glad I found this out now!
I've never been so happy to make a mistake.

Don't beat yourself much; you have only had the ride for 3 weeks. But, glad to know we have some hope! Now, you know what to do for the full experience of MT! I have been driving around with PSM off. For the spirited street driving, PSM isn't needed. I can get by without it. Still, I strongly feel that rev-match should have been isolated and assigned a dedicated button or something.
Thanks for your work.
