718 Cayman -

I recently start collecting watches mostly Rolexes, but it's already getting out of hand with 4 new watches in 5 months. My wife didn't know about it yet, I locked it in my safe LOL. Lately she noticed I been wearing different watch on different occasion but she didn't ask question. I just playing cool with it, I also bought her a new Rolex for her upcoming mother day. Hopefully I can convince her to buy the Cayman

It seems to me that the new 718 Cayman S is priced about the same as my 2015 Cayman S (basic car price) comparing my build sheet with the prices on the Porsche site. Don't know if giving up 2 cylinders for a turbo & intercooler makes it even yet, however.

IMO looks very much like 981 Cayman.
Nothing wrong with that...

looking at Boxster acceleration videos - the manual gearbox gearing is still very long.
2nd gear goes to 120-130 km/h, 3rd gear goes to 180 km/h.
i assume it's less of a problem with the turbo motor.

Race Car
Car looks good and is faster than the 981. That said, I wouldn't buy a Porsche with a turbo four. Just wouldn't. Regardless of the performance. Bet Porsche manages to sell a good number of them. I still am waiting for full road tests of the 718's in R&T, C&D, Automobile, etc. From what I've read so far, likely, they'll all praise the new generation of Boxsters and Caymans for their performance, and pretty much slam the sound of the motors.

.. since today on the www.porsche.de configurator...
Man, that Miami Blue pic looks great IMO. Didn't see an option for black wheels…T
Edit - is on US configuration now.

Cool to see Lava Orange and Miami Blue, besides Carmine Red. I am jealous! LED lighting is bit busy, though functionally should be good. Auto rev-matching in Sport mode as well. Was that the case in 981.1? In Spyder, it happens in Sport Plus. That's a bad news. So, if you want to have spirited settings, auto rev-matching is unavoidable! That's a deal breaker, to me.
Except for the engine note and the power delivery characteristics, 718s should sell well. For most buyers, these models should check all the boxes.

Gotta be honest, I think it looks terrible. Mind you, the diagonal views carefully selected for marketing content look good, but all the straight-on profile shots readily viewable in the configurator (e.g. side angle, rear) are a big step down from the 981, which was a beautiful look. The less desirable appearance, loss of NA engine, and transition to a 4-pot -- not inspiring, to say the least (IMHO). Won't find one in my stable.

Gotta love cars designed by people who take a bus to work.
