As a turbo owner, I'm curious about turbo (STOCK) vs N/A reliability, and longevity. The turbos have been out since 2017, so there should be many more with high miles than 2020+ GTSs. Will be following this thread.
2018 718 Cayman 2.0 6spd
87,700mi and climbing
rear axle CVs starting flinging grease around 70K, repaired under CPO warranty
PO had water pump & AOS replaced
I don’t think it’s had any other repairs
My buddy was in town last weekend and rented a base 718 (the yellow car). I think it was a 2017 and had 99,000 miles on it. He rallied it pretty hard the car ran strong. No overheating issues, pdk shifted great, good brakes, etc... we were both surprised.
2018 718 S. 65,000 miles. I got it with 60k and have changed the engine and PDK oil twice now at 65k - just so I can be sure I have a good start to my ownership. I do all work myself. I might throw a AOS at it as it does smoke a little on first start up... just bought some quick jacks and I'm looking forward to bleeding the brake fluid. The more i read, the more I think i should mod the lower cover and wrap my exhaust.

As an FYI, the only thing that reportedly goes bad on the AOS, is a cheap part that is not that hard to replace. There's a specific thread about that, and I see you already replied on it, so just give it a try. You might have a different issue, but if it's the AOS, that should fix it. The rest of the AOS is just hard plastics, so don't see how it could be bad otherwise. Good luck.
