After researching the current options and finding nothing that met my needs (except the unattainable ultimate cup holder), I decided to make my own for my MY2025 718 Cayman. It took some trial and error, but it’s finally a finished product. 🙌

It consists of a bicycle bottle holder & an aluminum bracket only a few millimeters thick that is placed under the floor mat. I attached foam weatherstripping on the vertical part of the bracket in order to stabilize it against the center console carpet. So far I’m really liking it.
Let me know your thoughts.

Thanks, I borrowed from existing ideas. It took a few iterations to get it right. 😅

These are the only pictures I have right now but did something similar using this
bracket bracket
and
bottle holder bottle holder
. Very simple to make yourself. It is still crude looking with the duct tape and zip tie but I also added a small piece of metal I had on hand that is perpendicular to the shelf bracket under the floor mat to lend a bit of braking /acceleration stability.

The adjustable bottle holder gives some flexibility for size and conveniently came with the little piece KariAnn added (that is intended to go on the bicycle down tube) to brace it against the side.

Thanks: unfortunately, the custom black aluminum bracket is kind of expensive ($95). I’m not sure many people are in the market for a cup holder that costs $150 or so. I guess if there is a lot of interest in the groups where I post this, I may look into a 3D printer or bulk order of the brackets. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Indeed

When I bought mine the shelf brackets were $21 and the bottle holder.$10. I used some nuts and bolts I had and that little piece of metal, but I am sure I could have gotten those at Lowes (and probably a better suited metal stabilizer piece) for less than $10.

Your solution looks great and elegant in its simplicity. But, $95 for that bracket?!?! Would have been much cheaper to take a piece of flat stock and put a 90deg bend in it than paying a shop to machine it from billet.

One could also go to Lowes/Home Depot and buy a 90 degree shelf bracket, these even have holes pre-drilled, just sayin!

I started off with shelf brackets. Unfortunately, none are manufactured in the dimensions I required. Also, predrilled holes are superfluous my design. I wanted a finished (not DIY) look.

So I decided to have a bracket custom made to my specifications. I’m first to admit this solution isn’t for everyone, but I couldn’t be happier with it. LOL, honestly it’s about 0.001 of the vehicle cost so in that regard it was a bargain.

Looks like a solid concept. Is it tippy? I wonder if an attachement strip of velcro between the bracket and underside of the carpet mat would be helpful in that regard.

Also, if one wants to consider a solution that will hold many different sizes of bottles, the Bikase 1022 ABC "All Bottle Cage" is pretty good.
