Default GT4 RS catalytic converter

The left catalytic converter failed on my 2023 GT4 RS at 4400 miles. The car is used mainly for HPD track days. Porsche service will be shipping a "revised" converter....suggests to me that they have seen this issue before. Anyone else have catalytic converter issues?

Cats are wear items in track use. What was the failure mode? 4400 miles does seem a bit on the shorter side though, even for a track car. What type of fuel?

Interesting point of view. There is generally an 8yr/80K mile warranty on Cats specifically (3/yrs 50K on other emissions equipment) in the US. Is there a GT4 RS exception?

Sure, for street cars. But track cars are much harsher on hardware. Track use submits the cats to sustainained in high temperature operation. No way they will last the warranty period under track conditions.

Failure mode was loss of power. Would not rev over 4K. Engine light came on stating care was drivable but needed service. Fuel has always been Sunoco 93 octane (simply premium unleaded).
Good news is the repair will be done under warranty.

Hmm. Curious if the cat melted and the engine detected the excessive back pressure. I would think 93 octane would be just fine... If it has been 91, the ignition timing may have been retarded causing higher exhaust temps. I'd be interested to see pictures of the cat after it's pulled off the car.

Dealer said there was "debris" in the outflow tract...so I suspect the cat melted and led to increased backpressure. Will get to see the damaged item when they removed the cat
